This young man tried harder to get the killer of his brother to understand that she was forgiven, than she did trying to save his brothers life after she wrongfully shot him in his own home. Forgiving her is one thing, but the hugs and saying I love you was too much IMO.

@Josh Brandt's display of mercy I am sure was not motivated by anything other than a prompting by the Holy Spirit. It confounds the wordly-wise as is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 1:26-29. Botham would have shown mercy himself were he able to do so. The murderer is behind bars receiving her consequences. Justice was served (although I personally believe 10 is not sufficient due to no effort to render first aid, tampering with evidence, and the subsequent cover-up attempts). I also do not agree with the judges behaviors as she is to remain impartial as judge.

What I don’t understand is how some are actually upset at this guy for forgiving? Nobody said you had to forgive her, he literally says that because God forgives him, he forgave her! So what if you’re not a Christian and you feel like that shouldn’t apply, that’s his choice. He did not have to by any means, he chose to, and that should be an inspiration for people, not something they get angry about…

I disagree. I don't believe she was mean, and I do believe she is sincere in her apology. What I do believe is that she killed his brother out of pure racism. Many white folks are taught, nearly from birth, that black people are dangerous and a threat. This is taught through news, movies and TV, and it is constant. So, the second she walks into a room, she sees danger where she would not see the same thing had it been a white man or white woman in her apartment. Pure racism.
