Reliving The War takes a week-by-week look at the Monday Night War. Fans would choose which show to watch when WWF Raw is War and WCW Nitro aired at the same time every Monday night, both companies would fight for the all-important weekly TV ratings as the Monday Night War became a battle for survival. Reliving The War aims to look at every match and promo throughout this entire era.
On WWF Raw the Austin vs McMahon rivalry rages on as Stone Cold challenges Vince, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco to a fight. Val Venis makes his Raw debut in a match against 2 Cold Scorpio, and we learn if Paul Bearer really is Kane's father.
On WCW Nitro (which is only 1 hour long this week), Roddy Piper wants to speak with Macho Man Randy Savage after what happened at Slamboree. Goldberg takes on Glacier as the win streak continues, and Hollywood Hogan wants to know if Sting is ready to join nWo.

@@roccojamison89gooker51 they made good money on that one if I remember correctly. The cracks were definitely already starting to show, and getting bummed for a month every year for the playoffs did not help. That's honestly why AEW Dynamite moved to TBS.

I’m just now noticing the big discrepancy in backstage segments and interviews between the two companies. WWF did so much character development and storyline outside of the ring, and it was also COHESIVE. Things that happened mattered and weren’t flip flopped and forgotten about every week

It's so odd to see the Russo era being so cohesive, but I guess that's the Pritchard and McMahon filters, moving everything around to make what Russo pitches make sense, unlike what we'll find about 2 years from now.

If Glacier was in WCW just a little earlier he would have been used far more properly which is unfortunate. He's a great guy behind the mask/wrestler and worked really hard to make that gimmick work and it really should have, too. All of that money they put into his character went to waste which also ruined his pay days he really deserved. If not for them creating the NWO (or Wolfpack at the time) we would have seen far more greatness from his in ring work being used as a potential champion and not a carpenter of our business. Percy was brilliant during this era (when is he not?) and he wrote a lot for his character to shine and not outshine Kain and 'Taker. He was hilarious and at the same time just downright creepy and evil here in this story line. This was by far one of the best story lines in WWF/E history and it was for many months which made it just right. It was not watered down at all and ALL participants including Vader made this work. To not only have worked during this time, but as a fan too, this was what made the 90's so damn fun to be a part of! This was also the time when the NWO were starting to become too redundant and too obvious as well as watered down. The glory days were 1996-1997 through early 1998, but after having too many wrestlers who were not fit for the stable made it become their own early grave that got deeper and deeper. They worked best when they had about seven, maybe eight members with one manager role. They were dominate and yet, also not impossible to beat with that many members. But...after 15, 20, even 25 at one point it was what helped kill the golden goose and the beginning of the end for WCW.

I mean, he couldn't show it anyway with that segment is banned 🚫 from being shown on WWE programming. Yeah, he'll fill in the blanks when we get to Over The Edge '99 so we can have context as far as Reliving The War. But, ofc a very dark day it was.
