Rawstyle Gated Kick TUTORIAL - april 2023 (Like Devin Wild, Vertile, Rebelion..)

In this video you can see me messing around for 45min to get a modern gated rawstyle kick! This type of kick is popular past few months so I decided to give you guys a tutorial!
These are 'messy' kicks. I usually like tight clean kicks so adding reverb on the lows was really hard for me :D
I of course do not claim that this is THE way to create these kicks, it's just how I did it in this particular case. Usually I work with my own kicks which i keep transforming.

@ PHYZIO Can you please make a full video tutorial on how to make the classic Noisecontrollers crunch kick from a single layer by eqing and distorting a 909 of Drumazon? Or is a single layer not possible? Do all producers layer their tails with multiple tails to get the NC sound?

Why is a gated kick called a gated kick? And what defines it?

Good question 😄 don’t know why itns called like that, i always thought it was because of the reverb! In my opinion gates kicks do not have a tonal tail and feel less distorted but still heavy and wide 😄

a gated kick is usually where the tail is made from some kind of distorted reverb, unlike a distorted kick where the sub is distorted with no reverb, giving the distorted kick it's crunchy characteristic and the gated kick it's deep reverby feel. hope this explains it well enough to understand xd

@@CJ_222 It's already kind of him to make a tutorial, he's obviously not a pro and still able to make good kicks, which means he has to go throught more processes to reach the final sound. It's hard to talk while doing this believe me, I make kicks and I couldn't imagine trying to explain everything while just trying stuff to get something good.
