Stuntmane big dudes like Bradley are so out of pocket when it comes to conversations about fighting. Brother, regardless of what's allowed, Devin Haney will land the hardest, most well-placed bare-knuckle punches on your face that you could ever imagine. Do you really think that you can close distance and enter on a guy who has such an awareness of combat that he is better at it than every man at his weight class on this planet? Devin will know exactly how you will enter in on him, he will know exactly where your head will be, and just like he has told you, he will tee off on your fat head with such volume, perfection, and ferocity that you will either get put to sleep bad or you will give up on it completely, and trust that he will be able to do it all day. Bradley, you're not a fighter. You're not a boxer, you're not a fighter, you're nada. Keep your mouth shut and know your place, its disrespectful to the people who sacrifice for this sport.

The problem is the physical gap between haney and martyn is gigantic, haney is a pillow puncher even against guys much smaller than himself like lomachenko, and martyn has wrestling and grappling experience, while haney doesn't. A little guy would need to be better everywhere by a large margin to beat a significantly bigger and stronger fella, but in this case martyn is actually much better in the grappling, so haney would get taken down very easily.

@@elmaistrodeteotihuacan Haney recognises that Bradley is probably a better grappler than him. The problem comes when Brad goes for the takedown and gets hit with a 5 punch combo before he closes the distance. Haney might be a ‘pillow puncher’ in terms of professional boxing but when it’s bare knuckle, those punches are going to feel like trucks to a regular Joe like Brad. After that he’s dazed Haney will have used his elite footwork to reset and hit him with another flurry and the fight is probably over- I don’t think most people understand the lightning fast hand speed and accuracy a guy like Haney possesses

Most of you have never fought before. The average person is not Khabib. An average person trying to grab a boxer is going to eat a lot of shots harder than they’ve ever eaten before just trying to close the distance. A fighter on Haneys level kos pretty much any non fighter. And even if he doesn’t, getting hit by a guy and not being able to do anything to stop it makes you very reluctant to even attempt to close the distance. And that’s before we factor in cardio. Everyone’s gangster til the fight goes longer than 30s. Devin isn’t just some dude who took boxing lessons as a kid, he’s the undisputed champion. If you don’t live that type of life you are not going to be able to walk through his punches. edit: it's crazy to me because there's footage on youtube of teenage Caleb Plant literally dancing around a dude way bigger than him in a street fight frustrating him to the point of rage quitting and grabbing a knife and y'all really think some dude who's taken a couple bjj classes before is going to somehow beat an undisputed world champion just because he's big. I was born in Cuba and practiced sports growing up. My boxing coach in highschool once dropped four dudes in an instant. But then i have seen fights involving wrestlers dragged out for far too long. The power generated by boxers whom has been practicing their entire live is second to none. It just that we see boxing matches going for 12 rounds and people go like, yeah they have no power " that is because the opponent also knows how to evade or take a punch through the entirety of a fight, even the ones that aren't at the top of the food chain.

I done grappling for years but that means shit when I stepped into boxing and started taking shots. It definitely takes getting used to, when you're hit with one that rocks you, and I've no dough Haney would be able to rock most men. Nevermind all the other factors in a fight, but taking shots and not hiding, is a thing.

I work in a jail.. big guys make this misconception so often.. the assumption comes from the size difference and the notion that smaller means weak in general, not just weaker... going in expecting to be able just manhandle a small guy gets blown up when one realizes that its not so easy to grab and control a person who doesnt want to be controlled... unless you can club em and knock em out or get ahold of them in a bear hug, youre in for a fight....you end up wasting way more energy trying to hunker down and control them than they waste struggling...

Yes but brad has done some wrestling and BJJ its not like its just size vs size he is also probably more skilled in the grappling area and i have been following the sport of MMA for a long time and i can tell you for a fact this is a big advantage never just being more skilled in grappling never mind the weight difference a lightweight vs a heavyweight. You are presuming the big guy is only relying on weight but a very small knowledge of grapling shifts the odds to hes favour , lets say he gets him down with that size difference a simle position like half guard becomes extremely dangerous for the smaller guy he will get chocked out by shoulder pressure alone and believe me there is nothing the small guy can to escape. Its easy to grab and control a person who does not want to be controlled in some positions it is very easy to hold him down if you can grapple and for that size difference you dont need to be a black belt to be able to dominate. That being said he can get clipped by a punch on the way in but odds are he should be able to tank them being so big.

I saw this scenario play out in real time once. My brother in-law is only 5'6, but he's also a golden glove. I saw him get into a fight with this big musclar dude who was 6'4 on the basketball court. The dude did exactly what Bradley Martyn is thinking and tried to rush him to use his size advantage and rushed him. By the time the dude made it to him, he was already on the verge of going down and disoriented. My brother in law hit him with a smooth combo placed to his chin while he was in mid stride. Then, he proceeded to combo the guy as he dropped to his knees. Guys who have never been hit by a real puncher don't understand it only takes 600lbs of punching power to rattle the brain. The average 150lb man can punch at roughly 650lbs. A trained boxer is going to be significantly higher. So what you see in the movies where the big guy eats the punches is all Hollywood glamor. Once your brain get rattled you're either going to be knocked out or so disoriented that you won't have a firm grip of what's going on to adequately react for at least 3-10secs which is a long time to be defensely in a fight. The correct way for a big guy to fight a smaller guy is to use his length, because once you allow a smaller dude to be within his range, you'll be at a serious disadvantage so rushing them wouldn't be the best move.

Although I was doing well to start off with, hitting him with some heavy shots, the big difference as the fight went on was cardio and conditioning lol. I punched myself out and he just kept firing back. I thought he was going to be easy work. I learnt a valuable lesson that day. We became good friends after that. As a amateur boxer in training, this debate is pretty tricky. In August 2021 I sparred a Street Fighter, he was a little guy, about my height at 5’10, but skinny. I am muscular thicker human, always have been. This little guy who was about 4 years younger than me gave me a fight, he really did. Now he did not knock me out, but we put each other through hell. We went four rounds three minutes each. Like Devin said, when you give someone a “correct punch” consistently, because you are trained, they are going to feel it and go down, because a lot of guys do not know how to punch this little guy knew how to punch, because my Brother who taught me boxing some years ago met his regularly walking down the street and this little guy was beating up two guys who were trying to bully him. The little guy’s back story was that he been bullied his entire Life and big guys use to just jump him, because he has a baby face. All those years in his Life he took punches from guys over 200 pounds who tried to beat on him. The little guy learned how to punch them in the same way. I learned this, when he rushed me like it was no tomorrow. If I can find the video of me and him exchanging punches back and fourth you all would physically see what I am taking about. Former Professional Fighter Zab Judah said this is how he was brought up, because bigger guys tried to do this to him. He used his experience in street fighting in what he learned in boxing then became a problem. He talked about it on Vlad TV if you search it on KZbin. The debate is mixed in my opinion also, because I seen former street guys come in the boxing gym and they may could not punch correctly, but they know how to slip, like they can slip fucking good. My Brother told me watch out for street fighters years ago, because they were not just built for the sport, this was their survival. They little guy I sparred who was a street fighter earned the name “Big Guy”, because his Mind and Endurance fought like one. Blessings.

So was he a trained fighter or are you saying he literally just learned how to fight from getting beaten in street fights and getting better? Because if that's the case, that's very different to obtain that level of skill and tenacity from that. But I guess you can if it's that consistent.

Some people dont realize how much real competition experience matters in a street fight. Even if you were just an average wrestler in highschool you have an extremely big advantage against and average person. Size may matter if its drastic but most of the time if you have any type of combat sports knowledge you have the upper hand. The problem with street fights is you dont know who your fucking with so it isnt worth the risk imo. I would say i was a pretty decent wrestler in highschool and trained some different striking martial arts like tkd and point karate and i still wouldnt wanna fuck with a random now a days cuz everyone is into mma or jiu jitsu.

People keep overlooking him telling him that in the process. No amount of boxing footwork is enough to keep your body and legs from being exposed. Boxers get clinched 10 times a round. Especially when you think of the small areas street fights normally happen in. Bigger men can eat punches better, smaller men dont have as much power, this is common biology. Look at the Shaq vs Mosley boxing match. Shaq is a lot bigger and athletic with minimal fight experience. He easily could swarm and grab Mosley, as well as could eat a punch from Mosley. If that was a street fight Mosley would have been done for, just because of Shaqs size and strength. Logan Paul could eat a punch from Mayweather, if that was a street fight Mayweather would be done for. I wish it wasn't true but it is. I'm 160 lbs, I know I shouldn't be starting fights with people 8 inches taller and 100 lbs more.
