B&L sold the Ray-Ban trademarks to Luxottica but not their patents. New ones (post-1999?) feel like flimsy replicas.

Agreed with every word you said. Lux RBs are bull***t. By the by, is bakelite the word you were looking for at min. 1.53? And incidentally: do you know where i can find a pair of NOS B&L Ray Ban Shooters with Arista frame and either RB-3 or G-15 lenses? Thanks so much and keep up the awesome videos ;-)

Sure would be nice to see comparisons to the Shuron MacArthur though plastic lens, glass is an upgradeable option. No denying the MacArthur look pretty vintage. Have you considered carrying Shuron?

Well I thought I responded to this.. but youtube determined that was a lie. 😂. Ive looked at it before and considered it. But at that time Shuron was selling direct to customers at wholesale pricing. With all prices no longer on their website I do need to revisit that.

Hey that was fun!!! Though I have a few pair of B&L RB's as they were most available here in Canada never really a fan. Fun video though - very much look forward to your comparisons with AO & RE where I think many people will be quite surprised to learn of superior options available right under their noses 🙂

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one!!!I was hesitant but just couldn't help myself! 😂 I'm gonna go ahead and say a LOT of people are going to be VERY disappointed in the ray ban vs AO video.... and I'm talking the people like you and I...... the comments on quality of finish were squarely on AO's shoulders. While the material grade used is better, the finish grade is worse. More obvious solder work, more pitting in the finish.. etc. Do I think the AO is built to last more than the rayban? Sure... but for 20% more... I have a hard time seeing it. Their quality has honestly gone to shit the last year.

@@ThatGlassesGuy03 coming from you who sells AO that statement is discouraging for us AO lovers and uplifting at the same time knowing there are some KZbinrs out there who aren't padding reviews to line their pocketbooks!

@@joycefromns I wish it weren't the case. I still have 1 original tournament and 2 original saratogas from the launch releases. The feel in the hand is even different. Much more rigid and holding shape better. Every pair I've sold the last year needs constant adjustments or they're warped and stretched like crazy (speaking to the acetates here).... the fact I can run through the stock and tell it by feel and look before confirming the age in my inventory software is telling.

@@ThatGlassesGuy03 what colours are the 3 from the launch release?

Wood grain tournament, demi and yellow saratogas. The yellow is reserved though 😎

Hey Glasses Guy! Does the old "clear nail polish on the screws" actually work? My arms aren't necessarily loose, but they "wiggle" ever so slightly. I have OCD and end up tightening my screws far too often, and I'm not even sure that they're loose since they don't move (at least what's visible to my naked eye). Would the slight wiggle be from the spring hinges? Or even simply a natural movement even? Thanks in advance. Love the channel!
@ThatGlassesGuy032 жыл бұрын
The nail polish trick hasn't failed me in over a decade, BUT that's for keeping screws from backing out. The problem you're describing is indeed an "issue" with the hinges. Either bent leafs or slack in the internal spring of a spring hinge... in the latter case it's largely normal especially in value hinges (don't worry, these cheapo spring hinges can be on frames costing several hundred dollars, unfortunately) 😂

Good day sir yesterday i was on a bus when someone accidentally hit my face and my glasses just been mis align a little. When i got home i tried to adjust again the fitting through the nose pad it looks straight and fine yet i feel like the it does not align to my pd i can say because i feel something is off. Hope u can help me
@ThatGlassesGuy032 жыл бұрын
Hard to say from this far away but likely the frame itself is just more out of whack than the nose pads, or the nose pads oculd be shifted to one side vs the other. I would suggest taking it in to a professional for a proper alignment and fitting :) Sometimes things get tweaked more than just the obvious ways :) (sorry fo the delayed reply, youtube decided to hide this one)
