This came across a bass group i was in on FB. I play mostly rockabilly and bluegrass but this sounds so amazing. Jazz is where the top tier players are

1:50 Great explanations of why to have a video for objective memory and learning. Why it is better for the student and the teacher! 4:00- DEEP ON SCALES 5:00 GET A GOOD SOUND AND PLAY IN TUNE- the source of your job! 5:45 “I’ve worked with all of the…”6:19 What band leaders want! 7:10 Precision of scales in the lower register. 8:56 F BLUES! 9:30 1/2 Position Then it goes into walking. Simple and in half position! 11:24 GOOD SOUND, GOOD TIME AND GOOD NOTES IS WHAT YOU NEED! 12:01 JOHN CLAYTON:! Bowing Basics. Scales emphasis. Without scales we are lost.

I'm a straight beginner on the bass guitar. But high respects for acoustic bass where it all started. I want to learn the basics regardless which instrument. Love these fundamentals on this video ❤

Why does he sometimes say, "hand position", and sometimes, "half position"? Or am I mishearing?

Half position is one of the many points on the bass. Hand position is just in general

“Half position” in the Simandl method is 1st finger and Ab on the G string. “1st position” would be first finger on A natural (4th finger on B natural)

Different thing hall position is the lower position on doublebass, hand position could be applied to every position

I’d like to ask Ray or John if you bass was shipped and when received everything was fine except the company that built my bass said the sound post had to be lightly glued during shipping I’m afraid that might effect the sound and I don’t know how to relieve the glue from sound post , my question is shall I seek out someone professional to help with This ? And also will it effect sound ? Please help.
