Absolutely. Not just the song, but this cut. No more awful celebrity mangling of the very hard-to-sing anthem we now have, written by an Englishman and set to the tune of an old English drinking song... just roll this track at every sporting event, etc. and I will happily stand with my hand on my heart. “There was one night game a year. On the 4th of July, the whole sky would light up giving us just enough light for a game. We played our best because I guess we felt like the big leaguers under the lights of some great stadium. Benny felt like that, we all know he was going to bigger and better games. Because when we watch those lights like regular kids, he was there to call us back. See for us, baseball was a game. But for Benjamin Franklin Rodriguez, baseball was life.

This is one of my favorite pieces he performed. I remember my father getting to work with Mr. Charles years ago. He hadn't been feeling well and they wanted to be sure and have a pianist available to cover for him if need be. I was pretty young and can't remember it very well, I just remember Mr. Charles people handing my dad the music and telling him to learn it so well that if no one could see him playing, they would think it was RC on the piano. Fortunately he was well enough to play all his shows, so my father ended up just playing some duets and couple dualing piano numbers. He had an amazing work ethic. Getting to work with Mr. Charles was one of my fathers fondest memories. He and his talents are sorely missed.

You know, I wish I had somebody to help me sing this (America, America, God shed his grace on thee) America, I love you America, you see, My God he done shed his grace on thee, And you oughta love him for it, Cause he, he, he ,he crowned thy good, He told me he would, with brotherhood, (From sea to shining Sea). @@davinder106 the music and the melody can cause a stir and a tear. That's the beauty of music. You don't need to understand it, to be moved by it. Nor does it necessarily need words. Beethoven's 5th creates a feeling of tension, and there isn't a single word. Mozart's Requiem creates a feeling of sorrow, and the words are all Latin. I don't know many people who speak Latin, and yet, without know what the lyrics are, are still moved by Classical music.

Whenever I feel like this countrys goin to shit, or breaking apart, but I come back to this song. It really makes me proud to be in a country trying to move forward, not haunted by its deplorable past. Even if there are big, very serious issues at hand, and we arent always perfect, (as the Constitution so eloquently put it:) we the people to form a more perfect union.

@Mike King Only in America. That story is so familiar to so many black legends who lived through that horrible period. I'm a white man and when I hear people of my race say that there is no such thing as systemic racism, I want to laugh in their face.
