That's a beautiful moment. Don't know how many times I heard singers who said they started their career doing a Ray Charles impersonation and how many songwriters, who wrote a song imagining Ray was singing it....

nobody else proved more than JC that rock was a natural home and extension for the blues. Fancy taking 'cry me a river' and making it upbeat. Pure madness. Pure genius. Pure blues. And the rock backing vocals of 'Blue Medley' demonstrated the real heavenly heights of emotion, while the holy trinity of rock guitar, piano and saxophone took blues much higher than the ballads could ever achieve. And then we moved away from it, away from music of feel, away from singers who were the song. away from my time, the best time, paying homage to all the roots, and wild enjoyment in experiencing the making of such highs. I don't miss Joe like I thought I would, even though I would always cry when he left the stage, not knowing if it would be my last. I had the best years ever, and I still feel the same when I watch and listen, but I do miss the real appreciation of music in wider society.

I would not have ever expected Joe to have sounded like this in normal conversation. I didn't even know he was British until just about over a decade ago. He's the absolute GOAT.

kristina niemeyer “Feelin Alright” was written and originally performed by Dave Mason when he was a member of Traffic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/roq7qZWqoKynjZI. Joe DID record several of Brother Ray’s songs, most famously “Let’s Go Get Stoned”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXfamXaCjrSSY68

the way of singing Gospel is the way that will influence singers for the years to come..Ray Charles made his own as the way Sam Cooke did and he was a member of gospel group and abandoned them to join pop music
