" ..... this what most people never had seen, including me, this is fenomenal for someone who is actualy blind ... most of the people seen him playing piano on his own, I think they never saw him as a big band leader, he was influenced by Lowell Fulson, who had also been a big band leader .... "

Good grief! I didn't believe you at first: that really is Tina Brooks! Wow! Not only does the guy resemble him, but he's playing the same type of horn and he sounds just like him. Nice call!

In the tenor duet that's David 'Fathead' Newman on the left and the great underrated Tina Brooks (check out his Blue Note albums!) on the left. The tune is Qunicy Jones' Birth of a Band.

Si je ne me trompe pas, ce morceau a été initialement composé par Quincy Jones et il est le titre d'ouverture d'un album au titre éponyme.

The person above got it. Back in the day you had one or two takes to get it right. They didn't have the option to punch in or layer tracks. Musician still do it the old way (god bless them) cause they know thats where the magics at. Hope that explains it for ya.

The other tenor soloist is Tina Brooks, who's on a bunch of good Blue Note records, both as a leader and as a sideman.

How can anyone say such a comment regarding Mr Brooks, unless they are not well informed of the specifics of his contribution to that great american art form called Modern Jazz?

Well I don't think we'll be talking about peoples synthesizer horn sections in 30 years. Making real music maybe expensive, but you can't put a price on timelessness.

Jackie dug Tina, he used him on his record "Jackie's Bag", an absolute classic. And I agree, this is not Tina's best work...actually, Fathead kind of fucks him up.
