Amazing rendition of this bittersweet song by Charles Aznavour. I am tempted to say that this version by Ray Charles adds a whole new dimension to the song, lifting it to a new high. I can see why Ray picked this song up, with the contents matching his own childhood, life and his special relationship with his mother. Indeed an amazing delivery - poignant, straight from the heart. The veil of night came and bitterly clouded my eyes, on his departure, my mother. I remember as if it were hj the sad diagnosis of a devastating cancer. When u felt he was losing the battle, told me the concern of leaving me an orphan, I with 17-year-old was losing my stronghold, my fortress, mainspring of our house ... God knows the pain I felt when you lose, only Himself to me endure and live with his lack! It took 26 years, but it seems like yesterday. Mother, while life in me blossom your memory's there, rest in peace, my angel.
