I can't stop loving you
I've made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
I can't stop wanting you
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life in dreams of yesterday
Those happy hours that we once knew
Tho' long ago, they still make me blue
They say that time heals a broken heart
But time has stood still since we've been apart

I heard this song riding down a dark unfinished Interstae Hwy driving back from Ole Miss to Memphis back in 1962 and I fell in love with the song that night. I have listend to this song all my life and I have smiled and I have cried. One of the greatest recordings ever made.. So now I will close out with my usual statement.. sing it Ray and I hope you are in a better place tonight God bless u

@@lwood6666 Many thanks for your precise information which is really useful to us, leaving outside USA. We have always thought that Ray Charles wrote & recorded it in 1962 and was voted No 1 on the Hit Parade that same year. And all the other singers performing this song just borrowed from R Charles.

This song is so perfect, imagine it. One day the world ends, and you stand still to see many buildings being destroyed one by one and all you can do is stand and stare at the destruction of the old world.... As you are still unable to move, you close your eyes and you think of the people you love, and the people you lost, you want to cry, but you can't. The last thing you ask yourself is "What if......"?

I remember back in the day, circa '62, being a little kid riding in the car with my family going down some old Michigan road during the summer and how I'd get goose bumps when this song came on the radio. Not much has changed since then about the goose bumps but one basically needs to come here to youtube to hear it as there seems to be a conspiracy going on among radio stations these days which forbids truly wonderful songs from being played.

Mr. Tadeus. Your wife didn't cease to exist when she exited the earthly body which is the cloak of the living spirit. It is good that love flows unendingly from you to her wherever she now lives in "realms invisible to mortal sight." Avail yourself of enlightenment from the available vast knowedge on what happens at death and where we go after laying aside our earthly body. Love and best wishes always

It's fifty years ago that I happened to come across this version for the first time. And I still think this version is the best. Thanks a lot for uploading.

Absolute mastery of the fire of heartfelt soulful heartache and painful memorium of a love that took on a life and therefore death of its own Ray Charles was not to be denied His spirit was enormous on stage The ability to evoke all manner of emotional intensity From revelation and rejoice to gut wrenching rock bottom of your heart awful heartbroken sound Country Western jazz blues Dixie . And a voice with so much heart and soul it could knock you over Ray is like a fire breathing dragon who is all powerful in even his refrain on stage when he is deliberately ebbing and flowing with 🈹a 🈹pause or refrain to allow the fire to inhabit his very being Absolutely not to be denied

I haven't heard this since I was in Amsterdam last year having bacon & tomatoes for breakfast in Teddy's. Another of my mum's favourites from the latter part of her teenage years. Lovely tune and my mum would agree with that comment.
