Ya'll, I can't tell you how much it means to hear so many people trying to pin down what Performers Ray sounds the most like. And, every suggestion is top tier Performers, a couple get extra points for creativity. But, as much as you might hear a little of this one, or a little of that one, there's just no accurate way to truly pin down Ray in any one genre or sound. He IS his own genre, and his body of work will back up this claim. No one writes lyrics, plays chords, and intonates sounds exactly like Ray. And, on top of all that he is a very humble, gentle soul, and an amazing human being. I just feel extremely blessed to have stumbled across his beautiful work so I can share it with others. I don't think I feel more at home than a place where there's so many people who appreciate's Ray. Blessing's ya'll!🕊️

He has a sound that just creates a mood which picks me up, carries me away to some ethereal, peaceful, authentic place that leaves me longing for something I didn't even know I was missing...... everytime. 🥰

Ok, I’d never heard Ray perform Trouble like this before. Is it just me or does it sound like anger and sarcasm when he shouts “SAVED!!” ? And then so softly…”by a woman….she won’t let me go”. I’d never heard it sound and feel so much like imprisonment. And then the confessional ad libs near the end… “there’s been times when I done her wrong” and “she forgives me”...over and over. Maybe I’m late to the game on the meaning of this song but either way, VERY cool. What an artist. Thanks for posting.

I’ve seen him a lot including at this venue, but when I saw him here it was for his Supernova tour. The first time I saw him was at the Orpheum Theater by the Boston Common which was super intimate. It was him and another man playing the upright bass and he told anecdotes between every song. It was basically “God Willing and the Creek Don’t Rise” in its entirety with a bunch of his classics thrown in. Absolutely wonderful show. Last time I saw him was at the Wang Theater with Carl Boemel from My Morning Jacket accompanying him. They played a ton of stuff including a bunch of his rock music which translated well to acoustic. If you get the chance go see him.

All the Wild Horses could not be a more timeless and timely song that our Wild Horses need in the US right now. When you see them loaded in kill pens, then trailers to some horror awaiting them, and listen to Ray sing this?!?! If it doesn't make you want to get involved you just aren't breathing... There's something about the thing that breaks your heart, shatters it, w/the sweetest ode to them playing...hard to find the right words. Ray was singing about them long before their situation has become so critical w/then teeter on the verge of extinction. And, after all that Equines have done to serve humans... It's just so wrong. I'll probably never know if Ray was aware of what was happening to them when he wrote this song. But at least in my life it's an anthem for all they've done selflessly only to be forgotten, neglected, abused. And ya'll, that's ALL before I could even begin to express my feelings about Ray's amazing depth, magical, beautiful song writing. And, God might have given him that voice, but it was Ray who chiseled it into this one of a kind tool that he uses to universally reach right into our chest and transport us to some we're not. Some, we all need to be transported for just a little while. I love a lot of Musician's, their work, and many can reach me. But no one, no one, lifts you out, up, and away as well as Ray. The 1st time I heard him sing 1 stanza, I was hooked, more than any negative addiction. He's a Musician's Musician, a Master at his Craft. And yet also, such a humble, gentle soul, and good human.

I understand why it might come across that way to some. But, I see and hear a musician who is also a human. His wife's genetic disorder's negative symptoms started showing up somewhere around this time. I see both Professional Musician, Human Being, Husband, Father caught in an internal storm. Just a theory, but I imagine during his tours post her health's decline, he was/has been perhaps quite torn knowing he needed/needs to be both places often but physically can't. Since this concert was recorded, I believe their family have quietly fallen into a rhythm of dealing w/his touring. Honestly though, if I didn't feel some sense of his longing to be at home w/her, I might not think him as authentic as he's shown himself to be. Also, I can't think of many musicians who don't have shows back to back that don't exactly give them time to prepare for the next show. I miss when ticket prices were more reasonable so that audience's might be able to better understand and appreciate the human being behind the Professional. I would also argue that there are some songs in this concert where he was very expressive. I'm not sure how to address the guitar not telling his story. The fact that his wife is sick at home and he can't be there w/her is literally evident if you think he's playing isn't as pristine as was recorded. Like any other Performer who is also a real person, there will be occasional shows that are more difficult than others and reflect it. But, like ALL Professionals, he shows up, and for that night he gives you what he has in him to give. And then, by tour manager's scheduling, if you can catch any performer on a rested good night, you're going to get a better show. That's just the honest truth In regard to live performances by any performer, even the best of them. The Professionals show up, walk on stage, and in that moment in their lives, they do their best to give the audience a good show. Some may come across w/more perfection, if there is such in a live show. And some, might reflect a human being doing their best in that moment because they aren't a robot. Perfection was recorded in the studio. You don't have to attend a show if you're looking for robotic perfection. I only speak for myself, but I attend live concerts for the experience, to see one of my favorite artists, and show them support and my appreciation for ALL of their work, not just what they played during the last hour. But everyone is different and free to have their own ideas, opinions, feelings, and expression them in the US, at least for now. I respect everyone's freedom of expressions. Huzzah & Blessings! 🕊️
