*Sounds like a, "Tack Piano", where they press metal thumbtacks into the felt hammers on a standard piano, so that the metal tacks strike the strings instead of the softer felt, giving it a bright metallic attack, but retaining the piano's underlying resonance... It has a higher more boxy resonance than a grand... To me, it sounds like a stand up piano with its top and bottom covers removed, and with tacks in the felts..., and perhaps with a very subtle detuning of the unison strings to give it a very slight, "Old West Saloon", chorusing..., though only very slightly... Brilliant..., both in composition and performance, as well as great studio production and engineering...*

I believe it's a piano with tacks put into the hammers.... what's known as a tack piano. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tack_piano
