Pretty bold and imaginative work pulled by all the directors. Adaptation of Satyajit Ray's stories itself was challenging and I loved all of these especially the Manoj Bajpayee starred one and also loved the supernatural climax in Spotlight. I loved the stories!!... I loved the transition shots in the first story...... Kk's simple but dark man portrait and the desperate nature to prove himself against ( in a way) God is goddamnn exciting......Manoj bajpayee's shot with holding the watch is sooo amazing!!.. The look he gave when he's holding the watch is like a man who found his lost treasure, the innocent child looking at something that's too exotic for him.... And The shayari!!!.... Spotlight shows us something that how an actor feels when he's going through existential crisis.. and when he encounters with didi the character influenced by himself... The amazing change he undergoes which then is vice versa.... But a good happy ending.... I just loved these stories soo much!!

Srijit mukherjee is one of the best directors that we have today. He has gives many award winning Bengali films. I agree with your review of Behrupiya. To my understanding KK'S CHARACTER couldn't have justice in just 30 mints. This film should have been longer to justify his character. I liked Spotlight very much. Just that HK's genuine performance is hard to accept. I loved him. Forget me not & Hungama kyun hai barpa are excellent. If you've watched all Satyajit Ray's movie, you'll see all movies are character and conversation based, even his silent movie TWO. ITS impossible to to make film based on his stories in a very short film 🙏
@maitreyeedutta20093 жыл бұрын
I loved Forget Me Not, because of the flavor and the way Ali Fazal was able to speak about the character through acting. Spotlight is my 2nd favorite as it has that psychological play with self assuming I am the best and also you are stuck when you know someone else is also best.

Satyajit Ray was a genius mind way ahead of time. I wouldn't say RAY anthologies are one of the best ways to give tribute to the genius but keeping the essence of the stories alive & presenting them in the backdrop of today's mordern era this was again a collective hit & a miss masterpiece. Often we see metaphors are quiet difficult to understand in Hindi Cinema, however Satyajit Ray's literature works are simple yet powerful to captivate the minds of the audiences of all age. Cinema lovers from all quadrants should appreciate these films as its time we move out of the ecosystem of regular Khans & Kapoors.
@augustyakumar57123 жыл бұрын
Well, Satyajit Ray wanted his audience to realize what the cinema is all about. Classy and massy need to be balanced in Indian cinema. These films just give a mirror impact on Bollywood, showing why filmmaking is considered an art. Classic Bollywood was the brainchild of Mr. Satyajit Ray.

I liked all the stories but specially Forget Me Not. What an amazing performance by Ali Zafar, Confident, Egoistic, Confused, Scared and Mentaly-disabled. Cenematography was just awesome, I can say a Hollywood level. The scenes in Ajanta caves (nice choice of location), Parking basement with full of same cars, forgetting baby on the counter and last one take shot. They made this thriller of another level.

In the first episode, sequencing is confusing. Maggie planned Ipsit's downfall after the shopping incident. However, her sister was in the first scene with Ipsit. The birth of the child, award ceremony, shopping for the baby, office scene with Ipsit giving measurements and his friend joining all seems to happen on the same day....when did Maggie plan all of this....while Ali Fazal did a great job, powerful cinematography, intense, thrilling scenes...however the sequencing of the incidents should have been better. More justice should have been done to the Legend Late Sh. Satyajit Ray's story

Forget Me Not, Bahurupiya and Hangama.. , we must remember, are stories by a master filmmaker with a profound vision and understanding of the complexities of life. For me these stories are connected by one vision where the protagonists are forced to confront the ugly truth in themselves. And when forced thus they crack up. In all the three stories, the characters around function as doubles or alter egos to the protagonist who desires to forget or evade the culprit self concealed beneath them. For me Bahurupiya stands out as the best because the protagonist reminds me of Raskolnikov, the troubled Dostoevskian character who, unlike Ray’s anti-hero, surrenders for punishment. In Bahurupiya the prosthetic lie he assumed for revenge becomes real and the call of the conscience (the voice of the Godman) has no effect on him! To understand these stories one needs to separate the real from surreal because the latter only a literary device, a contrivance to drive home the point.

Very nice review . Spotlight was way to lagging i believe. I feel the story was unnecessarily dragged. Manoj Sir , KK Sir and Gajraj are the veterans and they did there job at there best but special shot out to the Character Ipsit played by Ali Faizal ! it was an impactful movie - Forget me not

"Satyajit Ray" sir was the legend and had mastery in improvisation I watched all 4 stories yesterday and most I like the ipsit's character in "forget me not" and it is the standout performance by Ali faisal and also the work of director give it dark touch it it masterpiece love it and not is to make "Satyajit Ray" sir's stories as it is or seems to it.
