The entire group was very nice and friendly. They befriended my brother who was a huge fan who had music of theirs he acquired from countries around the world and traded or gave to them. He and Ray had a friendship resulting partly from shared medical issues each faced. Ray didn't receive all the accolades but contributed greatly to their sound. Loved all his song contributions as well as voice/ music.

An essential voice of the Moody blues, I always loved his voice in particular, but loved all their music. For 52 years I have listened to them, always finding new elements in the mix. I've seen them only twice live, once with Ray and once after Ray retired with Norda Mullen. She fills the role with the flute and adds a new dimension with her voice, but sadly we'll never hear Ray sing "For my lady". Such a beautiful song, magic voice .. perfect. Thanks for making this tribute Classic Corsair, some wonderful images. Thank you Ray for making my life what it is, you have played a big part in who I am. RIP you lovely man.

Ray Thomas, like all the Moodies, was an old soul with a spiritual side that informed his compositions and made him a rare talent that didn't seek out the limelight or the excesses of rock stardom. I truly thought that he had the best natural voice of any of the band members -- which is saying a lot because Justin Hayward has a similar tone and was the most recognizable voice in the group.
@cindysmale92903 жыл бұрын
I agree with your assessment of the quality of his voice and I think so naturally mellowed and aged. Cindy

@@cindysmale9290 Yes! I heard his rendition of "Eternity Road" during a solo performance in San Diego some years ago, and OMG it was just spot on - even more mature than his younger days, which were already good.
