At first I was a bit annoyed because I wanted a 1 for 1 remake. But the more I see things progress with this game the more I accept that The old story is already told, we loved it, and we have fond memories. But now we get diff type of story in the same world we love, with the same charters we loved, and with the same music we enjoyed. I'm fully open to the new story they're telling as well as the battle system and everything else.

I get people being hung up on Vincent but I'm glad it's leaving more space for Red, Yuffie and Cait Sith to shine in Rebirth. Wutai being left for pt 3 further confirms my belief that they have something huge planned with the war and old avalanche. In OG we're basically revisiting old areas after meteor has been summoned so saving such a lore rich area is smart. It looks like we're getting alternative outfits which is cool. Hopefully they go ham with options we really should get advent children outfits.

@@Baye1980 Not sure where I said Cait Sith was a better character than Vincent, I'm just happy Vincent isn't going to grab the attention from other party members who deserve their moment in the sun. I hated how Zacks appearance stole Yuffie's thunder after all the stuff that was set up in her DLC. It made me resent him for a while as I'm nowhere near as invested in him as I am Yuffie yet his one scene was getting all the attention.

Also already confirmed (yup, I'm repeating myself 😂) is that Doc Sheiran nursed Tifa back to health according to Tifa's story arc in Traces of Two Pasts. Just ordered the hardcover, btw. Looking forward to getting into it! You could be right though - Sheiran was based in Corel too originally and yes - rearranging the course of locations isn't at all a bad thing if it makes sense. Still wouldn't mind passing through Fort Condor if only for a brief moment. Dio definitely reminds me of Mr Hercule Satan too, btw... 😂

Vincent is definitely playable. They aren't that dumb. They've done so good so far with exceeding our expectations, they know we are waiting for Vincent. It's a lock. Fun fact. The VA for Aerith on her channel (realrebelgaming) said Cait Seith not Cait Seeth when reviewing the trailer. So it is highly probable that the devs told her that was the appropriate way to say it

@@RayCoffman I have actually never heard the devs call him cait Seeth. That was always fan driven. Another fun fact. There is only one Chinese dialect that pronounces it cait Seeth (also this game is Japanese not Chinese). Never did understand why people was so hard up on cait Seeth.

I think having flight and being able to walk vertically up a cliff are pretty sure signs of an open world. Non open world games only allow these feats on a contextual basis. Like in uncharted where you can only climb the area you need to climb. That doesn't appear to be the case here.

With that being said hopefully it's not FF16 where it's just bigger maps but 2 disc's tell me we're getting BIG areas amd the Golden Saucer having mini games and the battle square maybe a Fort Condor tourney ?! Also Tifa seeing the weapon I hope is Bugenhagen and not her in the life stream ??

The thing people often forget about is that vincent was only playable until he would use his limit breakers. There is a very real chance this is part of the "characters assist you in battle" vincent quite literally was the first character in ff7 franchise that you could not control always.

Worst case scenario: Nomura meant what he said and Vincent and Cid are AI guests and won't be 100% until Part 3. For some stupid reason. Best case scenario: V + C are playable, and the guests Nomura meant are Zack and maybe Glenn or somebody else, meaning we get even more playables next game in addition to main crew This is seriously 50/50. Nomura has also said they've taken in feedback and INCREASED the number of characters (which could mean anything), that they're not compromising on development, and so much other stuff. In trailer Sephiroth says Reunion happens when worlds merge (Zacks world with main party world, at that point maybe Zack joins as a guest literally at the very end of the game) If the game ends at Forgotten Capital, that leaves way too big of a gap for Vincent to just be AI the whole time, especially when you factor in confirmed backtracking to every region in the world and side quests. Red XIII was only a guest because he came in at the end of Remake. That's not the case for Vincent. At the same time they will want to save stuff for Part 3 and maybe they feel 8+ playables in this game is too much. I don't buy that though because Part 3 is gonna have to do it anyway, on the same console. So what the hell would the excuse be for no V + C, I would love to know.

another thing about "the order" - they COULD have Sephiroth turn Cloud IN nibelheim instead of at the crater but for that to make sense then they'd have to go there after temple of the ancients. but then again Zack is supposedly in the calculation...

Not sure how it'd be open world, when part of the world is locked out of Rebirth Completely. The "We won't be visiting Wutai" US ending at the scene everyone has been waiting to see, being Aeriths death. I'm so excited for Gold Saucer, & I'm sure we will spend a lot of time there, & going back there. I can't wait to see which mini games stuck, which ones are gone, & which new ones are coming. Am also interested in how Cait Sith is going to be to use in battle, & how they flesh out his character, & Reeve Controlling him. I truly hope Vincent is playable. I could see Cid not being playable, even though I'd love to be able to. Great Video Ray! Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see your TGS video.

I think the fusion of timelines has been happening in Remake. Originally I thought that process was complete going into Rebirth, but apparently it is not. Since this is ultimately tied to the lifestream, I think we're dealing with two lifestreams becoming one which is causing the planet to undergo changes that essentially allows both timelines to co-exist for a time. Because Zack apparently walked into the same Midgar we left behind in Remake.

I think it will be happening at the end of the game. The ending scene of the game is the aftermath of the Reunion.

@@RayCoffman Either that or sooner. Even in this scenario, I think we can for all intents and purposes look at this as one timeline in transition. At the end of the day it's memories in the lifestream that make these timelines. LIke in BTTF when Marty is watching the newspaper change from Biff's 1985 to the real 1985, the planet is transitioning from the old world into Sephiroth's world. Being in the middle of that transition would be like one part of the newspaper telling a story from Biff's 1985 and in the next column it tells a story from the real 1985. When it's finished, the news paper will be one timeline with a slightly different history. Apply that logic to the planet and you can see the purpose of Stamp. If you see a Beagle, that means this area hasn't been effected by the changing timelines (lifestream) yet. But you might go back and revisit that area and you'll see Terrier Stamp. It'll be mostly the same, but people's memories will be different, dialogue will be different, etc. From that, you'll get little tidbits as to what is different about this world we're transitioning to. An element like that can really add alot to an open world game IMO. If that is what they're doing with Stamp, it's brilliant IMO.

I’m excited about so much in the story. Wondering about the Dyne story, Red 13 finding his fathers statue, and that fat guy palmer getting hit by a truck. 😅😂😂. This next story should be rich and I’m hopeful it ends in a dark deep way… like a cliff hanger where you don’t actually know if Sephiroth is beatable and who in the squad will actually make it. Vincent was great! But I did not like him near end game cause his limit breaks were not great. Haha😅

Its bigger than you think mate, its open world, the main story will take a little under 100 hours but the sidequests and side content is almost twice the size of the main story. Its going to be ridiculously huge. Beyond everybodys expections.

@@TheMinicrom i will not calm anything. Given the emphasis on "expansive world" and "exploration" they devs did say a lot of the side content is optional but storywise would be around 100 hours. But they heavily focused on side content and making areas difficult to explore/to find everything. They put all of the OG side stuff in and a whole load of new stuff which 2/3rds of is completely optional. I can guarantee every single person who buys it plays at least 200 hours regardless of 100% completing it or not so it doesnt really matter. Its still going to be absolutely huge.

I think the remake is a sequel to original ffvii and advent children. Aerith entered her body in the past through the lifestream where we see her at the beginning of the game selling flowers.she is trying to change the future and thats why the whispers were trying to stop her vs they werent aroumd in the first one

I agree on your feelings about Cait Sith. I never used him but he looks great in combat. They moogle looks awesome. I’m sure they’ll improve his contributions to the narrative too. It’s possible that the Dr. is still in Mideel but Corel is more convincing now we know who it is. But he appears in Traces of Two Pasts years before the events of FF7 so he could have moved. If it’s not the Mideel clinic then it’s looking like some of those assets will be reused for it in Part 3

Cheers Ray, I love hearing your takes on FF7 lore! The Corel thing I think is right I heard that apparently he's in the book or something? It's super exciting, I think it's just full sequel at this point. Remake title was the only real red (xiii) herring. I don't know if you have heard but FF Peasant has some really out there but interesting and plausible sounding ideas! I think there is gonna be a reunion of clones way early, like Corel if that's where the Dr is?

I would imagine that Aerith will have to die the same way as before and Cloud comes to terms with it until Zach comes in at the penultimate and saves Aerith. Sephiroth laughs knowing he cannot change anything in that timeline but Zack can? Hero to Zero.

I really hope it does I have so much on the trailer, just things that should , so one make the minigames fun in gold saucer but dont tie them to trophies and dont put hard mode as a trophy to plat the game, now Vincent 50/50 he playable Cid wont be expect to see Cid in the next trailer he wont be playable becasue you head for the date scene at Gold saucer than the temple of the ancients it depends how the order goes. WIth the sky chocobos being able to fly good news they nailed that mechanic for the airship to fly where you want not just point on the map as it should be the Ps5 can handle it. I say 50/50 on vincent if we dont see what he can do under play control in the next trailer he wont be playable and just accompy which might piss some gamers off. AS I said make the minigames fun and dont tie them to trophy's. As for the trailer saying timelines merge that is too happen, but as you say does the forgotten city come after the crater.

I had the same theory about the Northern Crater happening before the Forgotten Capital! My idea was: After Temple of the Ancients Cloud gives the black materia to the Sephiroth clone; the party follows that clone up to the northern crater; sh!ts go down and Meteor is summoned; so the party hurries to the forgotten capital to summon Holy and then... we'll see what happens to Aerith. As for Zack, I still believe that it might be just one timeline and that Zack basically entered into ours at the end of the remake (I mean it would be weird to me if they introduced an alternate-timeline Elmyra, Kyrie, and whoever will interact with Zack.) Maybe it's just hopium... We'll see. Either way, I'm excited!!!!

5:50 - I mean I don't think we should be looking at Zacks instance as "not part of this world" that the party is in. that's like if I'm reading game of thrones and the middle chapter is Harry potter... it's completely irrelevant and unnecessary and even if it's told as a plot twist, it has no weight to the story. the weight would be Zack IN the "reunion", which means everything between seeing him survive and the reunion is irrelevant and depreciates the shock of the twist. HOWEVER! we have an instant of extradimensional travel already a part of the story - the rift where FATE was defeated. It's much more likely that the T1 party leaves that rift into the world where Zack is alive and had his history. that's why we see the party dead in the previous trailer - it's the ones from T2(timeline 2 where Zack lives) and T1 party is in the T2 world. I like this because that means that the villains of each game in this series is going to be Sephiroth but from each world - Remake had T0 (the original worlds Sephiroth who influenced time and changed things, Remade them if you will) which we defeated in the rift. rebirth might have us fight the Sephiroth within Cloud who's from T1 and third game will have us fight the Sephiroth that ascends - the original one from T2 who after Nibelheim ended up in north crater. That's how you have definitive victories against the villain but still keep them around since the saga isn't over. that's how you finish each FF7 game against sephiroth because that's what an FF7 game does... AND how you can still have Cloud actually BE Cloud but have Zack live. because the playable Cloud lost him T0 and T1 Zack died and formed Cloud to be OG FF7 Cloud but T2 has Zack and Cloud who doesn't succumb to an identity crisis fueled by shapeshifting Jenova cells...

I disagree with the comment that this game is exactly the same but randomized. Too many parts in the remake have nothing to do with the og game. From sephiroth having wing from advent children already, to referring the reunion as worlds merging as opposed to bringing his actual body back to life. Not to mention the entire last 2 hour craziness that was the end of remake. Obviously locales etc will be present, but we can’t pretend after that first game that this is the Exact same story. Lastly Zach is here, the party was presumed dead in a trailer(we know that is bc they went in singularity so it’s not the singularity versions, but either way none of that exist in ogs story. This is sephiroth coming back yet again with a new plan, a reset of sorts, which to me is nothing like the og at all. A lot of things are present from og, but a lot of things are not.

Its absolutely mental to me that we are casually saying FF7 and timelines in the same breath. I was most excited for a retelling, not 1 to 1 but things expanded like they did a bit in remake. But as soon as they added timelines and plot ghosts it ruined it for me. Im shocked how many people are all for alternate timelines when we never asked for this for FF7, such a trashy trope. If they took away the Zach stuff and the fact your save doesnt carry over (hate that cuz it doesnt feel like its YOUR characters going through this journey, like the first game doesnt matter), this would be everything I could wish for after almost 20 years

I think aerith will die in the 3rd game. Bc the fact is this isn’t the exact same story. In fact the way things have been told in this game so far, aerith has probably died a couple times by the point in this story already. (As in the past)So I believe sephiroths new motivations will either take a different character like tifa, or aerith and/or cloud will both die saving the world in some way. Just a guess.

@@k.batati5998 My theory: - I think Tifa dies this time, but I don't think Aerith will die. Because Aerith dying only makes her more powerful. - Sephiroth fails in the original timeline because Aerith stops him from within the Lifestream, while Cloud and co destroy his physical body so he cannot absorb all the lifestream/mako power. - This time, the future/post AC Sephiroth will take Tifa, not Aerith. Because it's Tifa who helps Cloud recover in Mideel. For Sephiroth, killing Aerith accomplishes nothing and he knows that Aerith will stop the meteor from the lifestream. -But if Sephiroth keeps her alive, he can block Holy from his sleeping cocoon in the Northern crater. - So the key for Sephiroth is to prevent Aerith from dying (so she can't use the lifestream powers to stop meteor) and keep Cloud from recovering in Mideel. Which means he will take out Tifa. I think a lot of fans are going to be upset, but I think it's really going to be interesting. This change opens up new options for the story too, since Cloud friendzones Tifa in AC and is pretty miserable with her.
