Awareness mode doesn't block the outside sound... active noise cancelling mode does that!! Awareness mode does the opposite by allowing the microphone to let sound in so that you're "aware" of your surroundings!

Coming up on 1 year and the battery is complete dog sh!t.. They fit great better than any I've had so far. But the battery charge has degraded drastically and tap/hold down functions do not always work.
