I have lived in UK for 10 years now, and this will be my last year of studying. My english level was SHIT, I couldn't spell simple words like"British" or "tomorrow" or even "pineapple". so I went to a foundation course (Pre-A level) to top up my English level, which really helped, A LOT (my english is still not perfect tho, that's why I subscribed to 阿滴英文🤣🤣🤣). Trust me, I have been through this and I know how scary it is to live in a unfamiliar environment, with no family, no friends surround you and you can barely understand what people are saying. But you will be surprised how friendly are the people here. I was a really bad student, failed all my grades, got warnings all the time and I saw no future in myself. But I am now a MSc Biomedical Science student in University of Strathclyde, studying aboard really changed my life. the hardest thing living here I think is to understand their accents. I studied in Eastbourne, Cambridge, Gloucester, Edinburgh and Glasgow. I always need some time to get use to the accent whenever I moved to another city. especially the Scottish accents, it took me about 6 months to fully understand them. But don't worry, people who got accents like the Glasgow accent they know their accent are difficult to understand so be brave and ask them, I am quite certain that they won't blame you. PS: Ralph is lying🤣British cuisine is REALLY bad but you will get use to it. when you get bk to taiwan or Hong kong. you will think our food are the best food in the world. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I don't know how you've made it but trust me this channel is not gonna help you with your English, especially in academic level. I guess that you just spent too much time hanging out with your Chinese friends or those from your home country. And that explain your negative thought toward local food, coz fast food chain in Europe will not get you any good experience; only real local restaurants will. If you are in Scotland, try haggis, blood pudding(類似米血糕) and pork belly (很像東坡肉) in genuine Scottish restaurants. Go to Edinburgh and try mussels and beers. Even the M&S and Waitress serve good wines and cottage pies, not to mention English desserts are best for those ants. OMG, 10 years, start living like one. I was there for 1.5 years and act like a British in others' eyes, thanks to the friendly local Brits.

+1 this is an Excellent comment! UK people are generally well-educated and kind (I meant "generally"). One of my relatives studied in Scotland & London and he said: UK is a nice and safe place, and he's always missing the life in UK(London & Scotland). BTW, Maybe meals in HK & TW are too delicious so that British cuisine seems not good enough XD (in my point of view) HK foods are really nice~:D (Especially combinations of Western & Eastern cuisines, really special) Have a nice day! :D

@@KC-pz2jw Wrong guess!! I have no Chinese friends here🤣 I even refuse to have one tbh especially the mainland Chinese (dun get me wrong i m not being racist but most of them are very rude). Most of my friends are Scottish, Irish and some of them are from Europe or America. I m not sure why you say this channel is not helping, it's fun to watch and i learned quite a lot from 阿滴, even my mum finds this channel is helpful. Maybe you didn't but that's your problem not mine. About food, first of all you need to chill dude😅 second of all I have live in Edinburgh for 5 years, of course I tried all the local food either homemade by my Scottish friends or from restaurants. You said haggis, black pudding and pork belly..My Scottish friends LOVES them, and maybe you love them too but i dun care pff I freaking hate them, they are disgusting 🤮. Oh but YES! Drinks are great here, my dad love the scotch and i love the gin🤤. Me and my archery members used to go to pubs after training before pandemic, I really miss that. there is only one mussel restaurant that I love but that's about it. I actually never been to M&S Cafe before, but ok. I m not into English desserts, they are a bit much to me. I enjoy my life here, I got friends, 2 pets and some dog owner friends who I know from local dog parks, besides why do you think its important to live like one act like one, I never said I m one of them, I know I ll never be one. yes there are 1 or 2 friends said I started to become like a Scottish but you know what I dont really care. And I don't put this on the table and say things like " i act like a British in others' eyes", i m sorry but this make you sounds ridiculous to me and it feels like you just want to feel superior or something but if thats your thing sure. 🤷🏻♀️

1.Bo'ohw'o'wo'er/A bottle of water.(英語口音差異難免有,學英語不能太在意) 2.For northern Europeans we go red easily.北歐人容易晒紅!所以英國人喜歡日光浴?(不能以偏蓋全) 3.come to England they said. it's summer they said.英國容易下雨?常下雨才使英國和台灣多釆多姿,環境美麗 4.Great British tradition. We do love a mug of tea and drink.

Great video! Love Ralph Love Ray , not only knowledgeable but also funny. I laughed quite a few times. I guess the other obstacle for Taiwanese students to conquer is the the different ways of using English from American usage

Thanks for this lovely video! As a student in Scotland, I totally agree with the advantages mentioned in this video. But still, "THE UK IS NOT EQUIVALENT TO ENGLAND"!!!
I remember there was one time I went to my English friend's house for dinner. He made...roast chicken breast, seasoned with salt and pepper, with some water boiled veggies on the side..also seasoned with only salt and pepper..😐
