RAYE had been signed to a 4 album record deal since 2014. They insisted she make dance tracks and feature tracks and consistently told her that she would only be allowed to release an album if they were satisfied with the numbers her next single would make (the final one being Call on Me which in fact is a stand alone single). After 7 years of this battle, in 2021, RAYE parted ways with her label and became an independent artist. Hard Out Here was the first single she released as an independent artists in 2022, also the lead single of her debut album My 21st Century Blues. She sings about her journey and struggles in the music industry and including getting out of her contract: 'I've figured a way out', 'I told my lawyer stand by'. She talks about her label not appreciating and dismissing her talent and artistry but she'll soon be shining without them and they will have no choice but to both see and hear her because she'll be everywhere, doing big things without them

This was her venting about how she was treated by her record label "polydor" She was signed to a multi album deal but wasn't allowed to release her own music as she didnt have a big enough fan base 🙄 They were more than happy to have her sitting behind the scenes writing hits for the "not so vocally talented" beauty's of the industry. Its her time now, shes calling the shots let their be light 🕯

Are you at a loss for words yet? Great song!!! Hello and good evening to you mate.. There's some very good stuff on there! Which album is the song from? Perhaps "My 21st Century Blues"? I've already listened to some of her songs, at the moment the album "Euphoric Sad Songs" from 2022. There's some very good stuff on there! I will definitely stay tuned. Let's see what else she has in the pipeline. Oh yes - as English is not my mother tongue, I always have to listen to the songs several times, especially when she raps.
