@@JP-ms3mlWhi are you to tell people what they "mean" when they leave a comment? IF they felt what you obviously feel about Amy Winehouse etc, they would have said that, but THEY didn't, YOU did! I'm old enough to have been one of the people to hear Amy Winehouse, BEFORE she became famous & I loved her first Album. In those days she had meat in her bones, hadn't lost so m6ch weight that she needed implants, & if she was doing drugs, she didn't like actors as addicted, BUT, unlike Raye, I never thought she was a good performer, live! AND her voice & singing style, though I liked their retro feel, were NEVER "natural", they were always an affectation! Many singers put on accents & styles that aren't like their speaking voices, but Amy's was very different. On stage, she had the stage presence of a fish that had learnt to survive long-ish periods out of water, or a deer caught in the headlights, her movements were graceless & clunky, she obviously couldn't dance... she couldn't even pull off the most basic swaying motion! Raye has a much more expensive vocal range, a greater vocal ability & sings like she feels it. Fund me sine foiesfe if Amy singing with anything other than a bkabj look on her face. Like the lights were on, but nobody was there! Its not "nice" to say these things, but they are true! Amy was a lost soul, who made bad decision after bad decision, even bouncing back from the heartbreak that inspired that first album, only to embroil herself with another utter loser, whose agfect on her, ultimately, seriously contributed to her demise. At a time when women were trying to push forward with the fight to be taken seriously, in their jobs...equal rights, equal pay & even I'm the arts! Amy was no role model! She allowed herself to be portrayed as a victim! Raye toom control of her life & her music! She is where she is today because she walked away from a record contract that kept her from being who she is, aayung what she wanted to say, & held back/sat on music that she had recorded & was more than ready to release! The two women are worlds apart & only someone who doesn't really understand vocal range, ability & agility, portrayal of a message/vocally telling a story, singing in a more "natural" voice & or even having any semblance of stage presence. would compare Raye, unfavourably, with Amy!

i could listen to Raye sing for hours her voice is out of this world. I don't even care that I don't know the lyrics but i jam along anyway she is incredible wow!! xx one day i might be lucky enough to get to see hear her sing in a live concert xx

Unpopular opinion: I don't hear or see any resemblance to Winehouse; different tone/timbre, range, ethnicity, demeanour, sides of the river (which is massive if you're a Londoner). Speaking as a Camdenite (aka Scratchy Town) I'm grateful for both. 💚💐
