I was thinking of maybe buying this game, but the story of Rayman Origins was a let down for me, so I was worried about this game. I can't believe it's even worse in Rayman Legends. Seriously? Ubisoft is using exactly the same pattern 5 times, and there's nothing wrong with that? Is this really all there is to the narration in this game? I feel like they're taking the player who enjoys good story-writting for an idiot. In terms of narration, it's like a backward leap of 15 years. We're really back to Rayman 1, but was this really something to keep from that game? I wish Ubisoft would make another game like Rayman 2 or Rayman 3. Oh well, at least I know I'm clearly not buying Rayman Legends, now.

I wouldn't say that they're taking you for an idiot--the idea behind the lack of story is to keep it from getting in the way of the gameplay so that there's a constant flow to it. This is a game that's meant to be pure, embodied fun and to me, it's much better than any Rayman game, and is probably one of the best games of all time. Everything is outstanding; the length, the graphics, the music, the gameplay, the variety, etc. It's a whole lot of fun. I did love Rayman 3's writing though. To integrate something like that more into the gameplay would be awesome, but if I had to choose between 50 awesome levels and a great story and 100 awesome levels and no story, I'd easily choose the latter.

If the story gets in the way of the game, it's a bad story. When I buy a game, I expect a good story to be told, as well a good gameplay. Having one without the other makes the game not worthy of my money. Story-writting is one of the (good) things that separates 20 years old games from today's games. As for this specific game, I don't think it's *that* different from Rayman Origins anyway. I guess some people can have fun with only gameplay, some people can't. I know I feel I've been cheated when there's no story. That's how I felt after finishing Rayman Origins.
