I did not remove the handrail. Maybe the previous owner removed it?

How is it mounted to the coaming? Is it the standard mount or the cantilever mount?

It depends on the wave condition and wind direction, but in my case and experience, for upwind 20 to 25 knots of wind is fine, but for downwind I normally have to take the helm from the auto pilot at 15 to 20 knots :-)

@@seitaro123000 that's a little dis heartening. I have no problems fixing sheet to tiller steering close hauled to beam but down wind is always a headache. I was buying autohelm for that. Will still probably install for motoring. Thanks for the video helps explain to the wife I need it!!

What would happen if you had to mount it more than 460mm from the pivot?

I have never tried it and their user's guide only says that 460mm from the pivot is critical for proper operation. Having said that, my guess/feel is that if you adjust the rudder gain (configurable), it might work fine for +30% (600mm) or maybe even more. Raymarine won't say anything like that as it depends on the boat response, weather condition, etc.

What battery have you got and how long can you operate the tiller pilot before having to charge the battery?

The battery I am using is 75Ah, www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--deep-cycle-flooded-marine-battery-75-amp-hours-group-24--15020316, but I have 50W solar panel connected, so I cannot tell how long it will last without charging.
