Vanguard Superannuation Review | Should You Switch Over?

Be careful comparing the fees of Vanguard Index funds to the investment options inside Vanguard superannuation beceause holding investments in your own name vs. holding them inside superannuation is completely different because they have completely different tax structures. Superannuation is essentially an investment vehicle to reduce your taxable income, so there are scenarios where it may be more advantageous to invest in certain options through superannuation rather than hold them in your own name.

I’m thinking of switching. Vanguard have been around for donkeys years, as opposed to some of these super companies but the main problem is that everyone wants to clip the ticket along the way.

You have made a mistake here. The super fee includes the platform and trustee costs. The index funds outside of super do not include the platform fees. This is for Vanguard.

According to their site, for $50000. Rest super $438 Host plus 648 Vanguard $290 Am I looking at the wrong sites? 😂

Investment fee is missing. $1xx is only the admin fee

Might be looking at the wrong info here, but the Product Disclosure Statement for Rest says the fees are about 0.70% & for Hostplus over 1%.

Different investment options have different fees. Hostplus indexed options are 0.04 - 0.11 depending on which you pick

I'm in a number of Vanguard ETF’s. I would switch to Vanguard in a heartbeat if they lowered their fees. Simple.

I believe you are correct. From about 6:12 Raymond is comparing Vanguard and Australian Super. At 6:54 he says Vanguard (where I believe he means to say Australian Super) is actively managed, and at 7:05 he says Vanguard is passively managed. He appears to misspeak at 6:54. Happens to the best of us.🙂

Hi Chris, you won't be able to invest directly into the S&P500 index, but you will still get exposure to the US stock market through Vanguard Super!
