My Dad who is 87 was given a Section 21 in August. He'd never missed rent for five years he was there. Obviously the landlord was spooked by the ban on the S21s coming into force and put the flat up for sale. After no success looking for a private let, prices through the roof and no suitable places for my Dad's disability. It was a nightmare to get social housing for him. Took me ages and if he had to it himself he couldn't, I feel so sorry for the old pensioners with no kids to help them with the council and emails and phone calls, they just let them rot.

The blackout was not serious and I soon recovered and I noticed I was taken to a back-up room because A&E was already full. In this room there was about 2 dozen people waiting. Along with an elderly white woman I was the only other white person waiting for treatment. Translators were once again needed, so one can just imagine the enormous strain this is all putting on the NHS. It is simply impossible to get on top of this problem while we continue to import 750,000 people a year.

My wife had been an accidental landlady for the past 10yrs but as soon as it looked like liebour would win any upcoming election, and their pledge to change lettings in favour of the tenant, she gave the tenants notice and sold up. Another house off the rental market making houses to rent scarcer, thus more expensive - well done liebour!!

I personally think there should be more rights for landlords, and a cap on how many houses a single landlord can own. That way you will encourage more individual landlords, who have a vested interest in keeping a house in good order and a more close eye on there tenants.

Yes, Ive been saying this is coming for a long time. I bought my 3 bedroomed council house to give my 3 kids a stable home whereby I was in control of the house and no outside force could interfere. They've all grown up now so theres only me and the wife. 6 months to go before the mortgage is paid in full.

I viewed a house in Wakefield yesterday the advert on Rightmove never said it had tenants an estate agent showed me around and informed me that once the landlord gets an acceptable offer the couple and their three young children the youngest was in a cot ,will be evicted and to top it off he said that the mum has cancer they have been trying get a council house for months in Wakefield but no luck they are on the waiting list and still waiting.

Sort of. Those being evicted are private tenants in public housing. They are being evicted to house those on the public waiting list. They are not being thrown onto the street as homeless, yet. They have "the opportunity" to find new housing in the private market, they are currently paying market rents. Those being re-housed in their homes are on the public subsidy housing list and will be paying subsidised rents, more out of the council coffers in money not being paid in but out to make up the difference between market and subsidised. There is a major problem, nut this is not the answer.

I am a landlord. I have one small flat that I rent out. It represents my life savings (I am now retired). I had to get a tenant out recently because he moved his whole family (6 of them) in from overseas. It's a 2 bedroom flat. And then he refused to pay his electricity - a bill which I am now landed with. He refused to go and there appeared to be little I could do as he had children! Then the council gave him a house!! My current tenants (who are OK) move out in February and, if this bill goes through, I'm putting the flat on the market.

No, the evicted people are "private" renters. They are not on the public lists. If they are evicted, they simply join the figures of the house hunters on the private market. If they cannot find accommodation, they can join the back of the queue for public and wait years to get what they had taken from them. A house.

I followed what had been going on in Springfield, Ohio with Hiatians... you know they're eating the dawgs, they're eating the cats 😂 doing similar there. Turfed out renters to get illegals in and the government gave them more money than the US citizen renters. So all landlords put up rents so the citizens couldn't afford to live in rented accommodation. Same happening here by looks of it. The hotel owners were given offers and contracts they couldn't refuse so similar scenerio. The great replacement !

I sympathise John but don't call yourself 'uneducated' because that is your choice mate. I was briefly ill after a aneurysm in 2004 and so enrolled on an Access Course got two A levels in a year and then enjoyed it so much that I took an English Literature degree at Exeter. I only gained 5 O levels at school in 79 but found although my grammar was (and remains) poor my writing was excellent and I cruised to a 2.1. If you have spare time maybe think about taking an Access Course in something that you enjoy John only my opinion but it changed my life. Oh and it's clear that you're not a sponger.

@ hello and thanks for the support and your uplifting story, I’m glad things worked out the way they did for you, it’s very impressive what you’ve achieved, when I say I’m uneducated I mean I don’t have a degree or been to higher education but I realised I’m not stupid and in some ways I’m glad I don’t hold a formal education, I’ve tried access courses, writing class, electronics, but I struggle to complete them due to one thing or another but I love education and have a thirst for it and I’m always learning wether that be talking to others or reading. One thing I learned is that nothing is beyond me and that now at 62 university education is over rated or maybe not what it once was or meant even. I’m always on the look out for things but I’m glad you realised your true potential and I’m sure much more lies ahead for you. Onwards and upwards.
