Yeah, hypnotized by their own power. Darkling even said at the end of triology that without her power he is lonely again. And Alina is saying the whole time that she is attracted to him (like everyone else) just because of him being amplifier.

God, this song fits PERFECTLY, I love them so much 😩. I genuinely don't understand how these characters aren't together. They are friggin soulmates, darkness and light, yin and yang. Hell, even Ben Barnes said it himself. Just because Mal is the good guy does not mean he and Alina belong together. The Darkling and Alina they defy each other, they challenge each other, it's so interesting. Yes, the Darkling is manipulative and he is violent, but that's what he was taught in order to survive. His manipulation is second nature to him, it helped him when ppl betrayed him, and they probably did since he was the most hated Grisha. I feel like he can't trust people too easily which means that it's difficult to get his guard down sometimes. To be honest, I think Zlatan is more of a bastard, letting Fjerdans in, so they can raid the docks and kidnap and kill Grisha, no wonder the Darkling wants to kill them. Throughout the decades he's only had himself for company, to make decisions, and he's become colder and crueller because well, of time. With Alina, he doesn't feel alone anymore, he feels like he could spend forever with her. That moment where she touches his hand and the light just exploded, his face! His face said it all. It's like he's saying I've finally found someone, and Alina could really be his balance. I feel like when she said to him that he didn't give her a choice, neither did she. When Baghra took her, she should've went back and gotten the truth out of the Darkling, she knows him better than bloody Baghra, he would've told her I think, and she could decide from there. She doesn't get how much the Grisha had to suffer and maybe he could've told her that so she could understand. I feel like he really wants to protect Alina as she is the only one like him, and, if they got the chance, the other side would try to kill her, Arken was working for Zlatan and attempted to kill Alina, no wonder they gave her so much protection. If the Fold was destroyed, there's no stopping the Fjerdans, Ravkans and Shu Hans from attacking Grisha. People just think that Grisha are there to harm, but they're to help too. The Darkling has been doing everything he's done for Grisha. At the end, I feel like he felt betrayed by Alina because he felt that she understood him, which is why I think he was telling the truth about some things he said to her. They both seriously need to have a PROPER talk with each other and Alina needs to let him talk. I swear, there is literally so much potential with these two they're really interesting and complex characters. I hope Netflix realises because God knows I'm going to fucking lose it if they don't.

Even more so after the baby reveal🥰 slipped by Bhagra but word gets back to the Apparat! > Bhagra happily looks after her new grandchild but is in shock when she realises the newborn is an amplifier during dark magic play! This is the key to ending the Fold! Does Bhagra run off with the newborn to keep it safe?? >Meanwhile war and political tensions are high in Ravka ……is the damn Fold migrated or dissolved yet?No! In the season 2, they will make Alexander the classical comics book villain, and Alina oh-so-virtuous savior. Such a pity! Why do we always need to oppose black and white? If Alina had more life experience at her 17, she would understand Alexander better. We fall and rise and try to do things better. The show would gain so much if it allowed the nuances to play instead of trying to designate and separate bad (Darkling) and good (Alina). Like in real life we really know the difference all the time. All that said, I keep in mind that relationship between so different people as Alina and Alexander are not viable if she only stays subordinate to him. He should really give her own space to grow. He should allow his human feelings to revive. But sadly the show is not about this.

That's why I don't really like the books. Life isn't black and white. A person is not just good or bad. There is both good and evil in everyone. And why shouldn't Alina actually choose the Darkling? He is in fact her only equal and the only one who could really understand her. Mal could never understand her or accept her true self. This childhood love thing is so overrated and irritating. But after all, it's a young adult story. Maybe I shouldn't expect more complex plot twists from it. In my opinion, Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom are much better, with better character development and etc., although they are practically young adult books too.

I'm torn I started watching the show for Ben and he's so hot and sexy and honestly I feel like Darkling is also grieving too he's grieving the lost of his first love Luda and he and Alina be so good together so much chemistry, but Mal is a sweet guy and obviously not evil like Darkling so I kind of want her to be with Both. I actually want the Darkling to leave them alone and let Mal and Alina live out their days together have a romance for a while until Mal starts to age and realize the Darkling was right and Alina is immortal and will outlive him and he will die and so I want them to have a beautiful sweet innocent romance then Mal die protecting Alina and Alina grieve him then end up with Darkling because he and her are the only ones who outlive everyone else and so even if it takes her 50 or 100 years to forgive him so what if your immortal that's like what 5 months tops LMAO. I want Alina to get to be with Mal first then Mal dies and gives her his blessing to go be with Aleksander after he's gone.

I've watched 5 episodes so far and although I haven't read the books I can't help it but feel that despite the episodes having been around 1 hour each so far, the story seems rushed. The equation between her and The Darkling barely got to develop. They seem to be in a rush to make him act like the ruthless villain and have her return to Mal. I found that so unfair...I already began to feel by episode 5 that the plot had peaked and there wasn't much development on any sides that could possibly occur...and with what's to come, I am not sure I will watch the show for anything apart from Ben Barnes's acting chops, screen presence and good looks. I have absolutely no hopes for a Darkling redemption or Darkline endgame.
