It definitely is. While chaining is already difficult for one character, the real difficulty comes from swapping to another character to start a new chain. The brain power to remember which controller belongs to which character while reacting to when you'd actually need to switch, all while holding run and to the right would be absolutely insane.

To save you some time: 8:04 done using a device that causes his controller inputs to be mirrored across all players. 13:37 here he is popping bubbles with his friend. That's the technique.
