There's a similar case out of Houston about a spine surgeon named Eric Scheffey, who was nicknamed "Eric the Red" because his patients required so much replacement blood during his often unnecessary surgeries. Interestingly enough, he also fled to Colorado.

If a doctor is causing injuries to multiple patients, isn’t the medical board automatically contacted. Especially if a hospital decides to sack him. That should definitely be reported. Wouldn’t they then suspend him pending an investigation. Why would it take his colleagues to contact the medical board.
