don't say that, sedra and smith are very old than Prof Razavi, smith alone was in his 90 before he died in the end of 2023, it's true that Razavi he initiate good initiatives to help students, but sedra and smith book still have one of the most creative learning approach to simplify microelectronics curriculm to the aspiring students

It is harder to understand the Sedra Smith's book, but it has some more deep explanations. In my opinion, combining Mr's Razavi lectures with Sedra Smith's book is the BEST WAY to learn as of 2024!!! Once you completely master Sedra Smith's book, you move to Arts Of Electronics (which the E-book is free by the way) and you master hundreds of actual circuit applications.

I think Prof Razavi's denominator in the transfer function at 43:00 might be wrong. I put the KCL equations through a symbolic solver and got the following for the transfer function : R_D*(g_m - C_GS*s)/R_D*R_G*s^2*(C_DB*C_GD + C_DB*C_GS + C_GS^2) + s*(C_DB*R_D + C_GD*R_D*R_G*g_m + C_GD*R_G + C_GS*R_D + C_GS*R_G) + 1. The difference being with the square term on the denominator, where instead of C_GS*C_GB, I got C_GS^2. Not super important, but caused me some confusion.

One question, at ~ 31:50 why is the transistor Current Source = g_m * V_1 considered an independent current source? This source should not be set to zero.
@jovandrum216 жыл бұрын
Yes, but because the input voltage goes to zero, V1 also is zero, and hence gmV1 is zero
