I almost bought the 2020 version today, I stoped to check the version right at the cash register and unfortunately the one i was about to purchase was the 2020 version. Ive tried googling multiple times to see the differences and was thinking of going back to buy em nonetheless but thanks to your video i will definitely get the 2023 version. How are they holding up? I've seen lots of reviews saying they're cheaply built and break within a year. I've also heard support is a pain to go through, to the point where it seems that they don't want you to get a refund.

This was exactly the level of review I was looking for. No joke I was just about to grab the 2020 it was in my cart and was just thinking... I should look for a decent review to see what the big difference is. That bluetooth is something I actually need and thought was available in the 2020 version, which was conveniently not mentioned in the product description of where I was going to purchase it. Small correction to this video, you can remove the ear cups, at least on the 2020 versio you can. You can actually buy aftermarket ear pads for the 2020 version. I recently changed the ear pads on mine.

I still have my 2020 Blackshark V2's as my go-to over ear wireless gaming headphones because they are super comfortable, although during summer I usually stick to earbuds so my head has minimum heating.

The ear pads are removable. Wicked Cushions make replacement for the older model and are working on making some for the new blackshark.

My battery life of the 2020 edition is shot. It seems to last only a few hours now before needing recharged/beeping at me. I believe I've only had this headset about 2 years. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 2023 edition. I'm wondering if the battery quality will last longer since it's usb c vs micro usb? What are the proper charging methods to get the most of your headset battery health before it degrades? Thanks for all the easy to understand and well shot videos. I've followed your build guides and things for corsair products and i love the content. Keep it up!

Just don't charge it to a 100%, keep it at 80 and don't let it go below 20.

I've had the 2020 version since it released. A little while ago the ear cups started peeling off and I had to super glue them back. I eventually decided it was time for an upgrade so I bought that HyperX Cloud one everyone recommends and I absolutely hate it. It sounds terrible and it's rather uncomfortable. The only thing I do like more about it than the Blackshark V2 Pro is that the charging port is USB C, which means it's faster at charging and I can actually use the headset and charge it at the same time. Because with the Blackshark and its micro usb port, the port is really fidgety and the cable won't stay plugged in, unless left completely still. I don't know if that was a manufacturing error, but it bothered for years. Fast forward to today and I'm getting fed up with the HyperX headset and since I can't find anything else that's good enough, I figured I may as well get this 2023 version, as it addresses most of my issues with the 2020 version, even if it exceeds my budget. I'm hoping it might go on sale around Christmas time, so I can get it a decent price. And since I loved the audio quality of the 2020 version so much, I figured I can't go wrong with this updated version, so I'm willing to pay the premium. Excellent video by the way!

What do you do when ear cushions are worn/ damaged and you need to swap them? Also wanted to ask if you had any problem with white silent noise( people complain a lot, but with similar names its impossible to check if they talk about v1 or v2 2023) Thanks.

Other people said that white noise can be fixed with a firmware update. The only time I experienced it was with side tone turned on and the volume of that set too high.

They can be changed. Wicked cushions has one for the 2020 edition but haven't said about making one for the 2023 edition just yet

@@TheProvokedPrawn YESS ! Got them, no white noise at all, amazing headphones. Since I owned the g pro x 2 2023 , I must say it was good choice returning them. Razer is the goat this year . ( my main use of headphones is gaming and surround sound, that's why I say these are better. Logitech g pro X2 lack surround sound, so this was my best choice)

biggest differences are the battery, charging and mic. if you dont mind micro usb charging, dont use the headset mic, and charge it overnight, the 2020 is perfectly fine as the audio is the exact same. If the headset mic is important to you, u prefer USB-C charging, and want triple the battery life, go with the 2023. Outside of those changes, they are pretty much the exact same headset.

Idk if I can trust a review that said the mic on the original one was good 😂 it was so bad. I was using a roccat khan aimo before which I got for half the price of the 2020 razer and that mic was 10x better. I was so upset at the mic that I got a Shure Mic

Looks cheap maybe, but I didn't hear any comparison about mic quality. Blackshark v2 pro 2020 & 2023 easily beat the g pro x. I was thinking about going with logitech but considering the major downside and price difference razer is superior.
