You don't need a dongle at all. Just buy a cable with USB-C on one end and HDMI on the other. That's what I do.
3 жыл бұрын
That works, the problem is when you actually wanna use that usb-c for other things, or wanna use that monitor with computers that don't have usb-c. Also some (if not most) usb-c to hdmi adapters have a lot of limitations and its hard to find one that actually does 4K 60Hz with proper color depth and features. Most of them completely lose FreeSync, HDR and other features that your monitor could support. Dongle/adapters world is a very mindf*ck world, and I speak from experience. I have an HDR monitor and I tried everything to make it work with my M1 MBP, with every adapter possible, and nothing works. With HDMI directly connected to my windows laptop it works perfectly. None of those usb-c to hdmi adapters work on windows with those features, either. Just HDMI to HDMI. or DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort, which that windows laptop also has. But I bought a usb-c to displayport adapter thinking it would work better, but nope, the computer (be it the MBP or the PC) can't see the HDR or FreeSync of the monitor through it either. Having actual real ports is very underrated, trust me. Dongles or adapters don't solve anything, they make your life worse in every possible way. Bandwidth limitations, power limitations, compatibility, loss of features between device and accessory through dongle/adapter, losing them, they are expensive, etc. Not having ports on your high end computer is a really huge nightmare. Unless you have the Pro Display HDR. That works fine. Because Apple. On mac, only. Also because Apple.

@@jamesnyers1721 oh I don’t know, managing large projects, working with large databases, coding, development, running programs for school, just to name a few. There are tons of uses outside of content creation that would benefit from a powerful machine. Assuming if someone isn’t creating content then they’re just using KZbin and Facebook is pretty narrow minded. As a med student I’m aware I’m not the most power user out there but I need a powerful enough computer to be able to handle significant multitasking, run large and sometimes complex spreadsheets/accounting type stuff for a business I’m involved in, run moderately graphics intensive anatomy programs such as one that allows me to go through an interactive 3D model of the central nervous system, and run other resource intensive programs. My old laptop running on an i7 from around 2015 or 2016 (don’t remember what gen) with 8GB of ram was slowing down significantly when I was doing my more intensive work, so I needed something more powerful, but my only “content creation” is when I post a pic to Instagram. idk if I really agree that dongles are the worst. Sure they suck if you have them scattered all over your desk but when it comes to cable management it will make your life so much easier. You can hide a USB hub for you MacBook at the bottom edge of your desk then all you need to do when docking your MacBook is plug it into the USB hub. If you use a thunderbolt display this setup can look extremely clean and is extremely fast when you want to just plug your MacBook in and start working. If you're like me and have two computers, one PC and one MacBook, then you can use a KVM switch to plug in your shared peripherals. Then you'll never have to move keyboard, mouse, and headphones between computers again. Dongles are definitely the future!

I said it before, and I will say it again. HOW IS THE SPEAKERS?!?! is it good like the 16 inch macbook pro or even the 13 inch m1?

I think dongles are OK OK. I need thunderbolt cause I use a 22inch Drawing tablet that supports thunderbolt connectivity. I am still gonna need to buy a Macbook 13 M1. Still thinking!

Razer should make clear cases for their laptops already! Their R&D is probably trying to incorporate RGB first lol

the reason the the mack book has better battery life is becuase it uses arm (wich is uslal less powerfull then normal laptops and desktop) (mainly for portable mode{dose'nt need a fan} it barly over heat).

would you recommend razerblade 14 for architecture modeling and rendering? And I also need to use lots of Adobe stuff…. Concern about the 16gb memory

I'm scratching my head a bit too on why they aren't offering a 32GB model.
@megaaimer15263 жыл бұрын
@@jamescowgill4039 true, could make the decision much easier with 32gb option, this one is probably one of the best laptops in 2021

You're right, Gary. Dongles suck balls! Also, instead of buying an expensive skin, you can pick up a roll of vinyl for a couple of bucks and cut it yourself.

To compare that power hungry machine with apple is not fair, apple is all about optimization, always thing consuming less power how much result its generating, when u plug that razer it drops ita performance immediately by more than 50%, apple doesn't do it all!

Gerry, I totally agree! Dongles are the worst! I hope Apple gets to understand this as well and starts building in HDMI connectors in their new Macbook Pro Series Laptops.

For me when gaming I would rather have a desktop for windows. My M1 MacBook Air feels like a laptop and helps me 3D sculpt comfortably on the go. The problem with these gaming laptops is that you have to plug them in to get the best performance. Unless you are using simple software you still get half or less of the battery life of a Macbook now. Having a productivity laptop I want it to be a laptop. Not plugged into the wall most the time. I can even get hours of gaming in on Geforce Now, Stadia and xcloud without running through the battery.

Which program do you use for 3D sculpting? Which configuration do you have on your M1 MBA?
