I just got mine. My old HP got murdered by an update in the fall and wouldn't restore. We were able to do a clean install, and I'll be getting that back because it has lots of storage and using it for docs and files. I've been using an iPad, but I miss my Steam and Windows games, besides not being able to edit my docs in Word. The internet-based editors don't allow me to see each page I'm editing. Just got this Razer, and I'm really pleased with it so far. It doesn't pant every few minutes like my old laptops. I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but I'm happy. I'm pleased with the review, and satisfied since I really needed a windows-based laptop. The audio during the setup didn't sound terrible, but I had low expectations from any laptop. They always sound a little "tinny" to me. I hooked up my speakers since I mainly use it like it's a PC with a docking station. I think the screen is my favorite feature (as well as the SSD). I love the texture. :) Thanks for the tip on the SSD upgrade. I'll put that on my wish list.

The biggest drawback of the Mac at the moment is the super thick bezel, once it refreshes its design it'd be an even stronger contender. It's be very interesting to see what x86 companies will come up with to compete with ARM on power consumption and performance, or if they'll fold and move to ARM.

Have fun packing up your rig even a slim mini itx one with all the peripherals and monitor in a check in when you can throw the laptop in a carry on and either keep your egpu in your carry on or check in with room to spare for your clothes. Now if you say just get a gaming laptop that s*** is going to not last long on the flight and a lot of the times the internal GPU is not upgradable so in two to three years you're stuck in the Stone age. Also you would just use your GPU in the enclosure from your gaming rig and just pop it back in when you get home. I have been a windows user since 1995 and a Mac user since 2008. It is my experience that Windows laptops no matter how premium has never been able to compete with Macs in terms of quality. It is fascinating to see that now after all these years at the end of 2020, Apple laptops not only beat Windows laptops in terms of quality but also in terms of performance and price. Apple has just introduced its most basic and cheapest M1 chip and it already beats the most powerful intel chips. I can't wait to see how intel chips get thrashed by the M1 series of chips in a year or two.

Here’s my take on the tech from a total personal POV: I’m an engineering student often having to use apps and software that don’t run natively on MacOS. However, I own an iPhone and an iPad Pro so it makes all the sense in the world for me to get a powerful Mac if I had that choice. Unfortunately, I have to stick to a windows machine and despite how much razer or any other company for that matter try to improve their products to imitate the macbook, they will never really be a macbook, at least in my eyes. With that said, here’s another statistic - a lot of people own an iPhone and would prefer to have a mac if it weren’t for limitations like mine. I would loved if razer made this machine’s graphical processing power better. The integrated graphics is still a hit or miss for me for work. A low-power, dedicated gpu would have been a game changer for me. I understand that many people would prefer the battery life over it for which razer could give us the option to upgrade to a dedicated gpu over the base model like they do in the 15 series. I love the small form factor of the book and the 15 is not just too big but also a deal breaker in many other categories. I wish they give us the option to upgrade to a dedicated gpu in the next iteration.

Disabled my track pad (unusable),...the bottom of the laptop looked like it was smiling on 3 sides it was so bad. Customer services first acknowledged the problem and sent me a prepaid fedex label. I'm thinking,....good job,...they're going to fix their product problems. Today,....I got a email listing $630 worth of problems that battery caused and them asking for payment. The laptop was the 15 inch white purchased in 18...$2000+...and now they want another 630 for a problem caused by their defect. HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN. I'm really not sure why people are praising this laptop, aside from wanting to please Razor and get future review units. It is abhorrent that in 2021, they wouldn't at least include a 512GB SSD at this price point. By comparison, the LG gram weights less, has better battery life, upgradable wifi, and costs about the same. Alternatively there are things like the Lenovo 7i that cost roughly have the price, include a larger drive, weight roughly the same, and has nearly twice the battery life, and still being an all metal/aluminum/alloy chassis. An honest review of this laptop would have included comparisons to actual Windows laptops that were available at the time of this review, not blatantly declare it the best with zero comparison.

Deeefinitely not true. TB4 expands only up to 4 PCI lanes, still not at max throughput. Not to mention, eGPU tech would have to be compatible with TB4 specs as well in order to realize that max potential.

M1 macs are fast but a lot of tools are not working for IT professionals. Also seen a lot of videos of people having weird issues due to weird problems with Rosetta translation.
