Federer is definitely the GOAT of tennis in my opinion, his style has always been gracious and elegant, mixing a great variety of shots with a remarkable intelligence. In addition, his composure on the court stands only for very few other players in all tennis history. This is my humble opinion based on long tennis memory.

When tennis is not only about figures and record, you enjoy watching Fed, Brown, Dimitrov, Dolgopolov, Kyrgios, Davydenko, Moutet and many others who don't play as in the book. Mavericks or artists, this is what I love to see. Some (like Djoko) are just astounding and objectively the best but they lack the bit of magic that you can see with atypical or insanely talented players. And record wise, even if it's the fate of all the 2nd, 3rd etc., Nadal and Fed achievements are just out of this world and some look at their insane carreer as minor now Djoko is on the top of the game. Quite sad indeed but sport is all about figures, bets and results for many now. Quite sad when we had the chance to see so many great matches and variety. Insane consistency for Djoko, insane mental strength for Rafa, insane talent and creativity for Roger. And so many great players just behind (Murray (another beast), Wawrinka, Ferrer, Tsonga and many others) Sport is actually all about humanity, commitment, dedication, aesthetics, fair play, emotion...and the tears of Mayer are a vibrant evidence of that, on top of being heartbreaking.

Here it is in a nutshell. According to numbers...and people insisting on who’s the ‘best’ because of them..they feel and think that is proof. It’s not. According to that very personal formula - voila! - Djokovic is the best. Well that makes Margaret Court better than Serena - Evert, Venus, Martina, etc..., which, is just not true. If you want to know who the best is...just watch them play. If people who never saw a tennis match were asked to pick who was the better player...it would be Roger.
