What you have to think about with Duran is this is the first time he is getting top quality coaching...think about it..he started off in youth football in Colombia..he then went to the US league which is really at the end of the day tin pot coaching..then he comes to villa ..a premier league and champions league club with one of the top coaches innthe world as his manager..this is the first time in his career that his getting world class coaching..so who knows what levels that this kid can reach

He might have the highest ceiling of any young player in the world. Top 5 for sure. Obviously Endrick is likely top at this point. Seems he likes playing for Emery. But Villa better not take him for granted. He won't be interested in being a "sub" next season. The Spanish and Italian giants WILL be after him this summer. I could see Liverpool offloading Nunez and bringing in Duran to pair with Luis Diaz, his countryman. Arsenal and Chelsea will be sniffing around.

Watkins is a quality all round striker. He stretches and runs in behind opposition defenders, he holds the ball up well and his link up play is also very good. Yes he isn’t the most clinical but he’s always hit double figures for goals since signing for Villa and is on course to be the clubs all time leading goal scorer.

This was a first-class away champions league performance. I was surprised to see cash playing in place of bailey, but he had a good game. We always looked in control, and Duran was unlucky to have his second chalked off. Emerys game management and plan was spot on. we just need to sort out some of these defensive errors out. When you see buendia celebrating barkleys' goal, you can see what it means for the whole squad

Jhon Duran is full of anger, give him the ball and he’ll score a banger. What a result, if we could just get the defence sorted out - great first goal and McGinn up the pitch feels like the best role for him. Duran is such a naturally good player, he just needed the right coaching and it’s paying dividends. I feel he would be good in Rogers position with his energy and ability. Kamara is class and so important in the pivot, get Onana beside him & we become harder to beat.

To be fair to Marco Rose i went and watched the translation of his pre-game interview and he was very complimentary about Villa. He said we were a very well drilled organised team that would pose a lot of challenges, but that at least in some ways dod make ot easier to prepare for the game in training. He dodn't seem particuarly arrogant about it in that press conference.

Shout out to McGinn. He isn't our best natural player. Some previously called for him to come out of the team. But every level We have reached since our Championship days, He has stepped up and reached that level himself. He's nowhere near out of place in these CL games when He's not being played in different positions. And when he is, He's not terrible. His versatility should be appreciated- especially in a team sometimes struggling for player numbers.

Great performance , looked fluid and at it … Couple of daft goals conceded ..but we were in charge . Mathy Cash great in the Bailey role .. It’s a nightmare for defences dealing with Ollie and then a change of style for Dhuran ..Great .. On a general point we’ve gad a fantastic goal disallowed , got to change the offside rule .. Vinnie Jones says there should be a gap between the defender and attacker to be offside .. We want goals in the game .The defender is not stopping that goal .. Offside and handball got to change ..Anyway brilliant..

Duran is something special its gonna take a huge sum of money for someone to get him off us now we've tied him down to a long contract. He will go on to be one of best natural number 9s in the world in next 2/3 years no doubt about it.. Fair play to Luke on his call of Cash on right wing, totally agree he had a great game. He somehow managed to be on in defence one second and then he was by their penalty box. Morgan was a bit frustrating but he is still young and a year ago he was still in the Championship. Durans goal was unreal, we got drenched in beer 🥳, Ollie was perfectly fine. What a mental game. Should have been 3-0 up inside 10 minutes!! Poor finishing nearly cost us, not to mention the calamitous defending/goalkeeping for their two goals! Take the points though and move. Brilliant first half. Looking at the stats Leipzig had a better xG which I'm totally shocked by considering how we controlled the game until final 15 mins. This team, RB Leipzig, a seasoned Champions League participant, is the team that beat us 2 - 0 in the pre-season in Miami, USA, and caused me many concerns. Today my faith has been redeemed. I liked how we played the early ball today (much one touch). One concern I have though, is that Rogers and Duran now need to develop their weaker foot as this robbed Duran and by extension Villa of a clear chance for a second, and Rogers from a possible goal from a half-chance. Also, I am dearly looking forward to seeing him put his laces through the ball like Duran, Watkins, and Bailey as he has the strength to do this.

Great win. I had a few concerns about this game. They’ve just come off a couple victories and were at home with an attitude of nothing lose, so it was a potential banana skin. We were sublime going forward at times, especially in the first 30 minutes. I still have concerns about this defence and it seems like a mistake can happen at any given moment by any player, regardless of whether they are under pressure, on, or off the ball, which is becoming more, and more evident in each game. A top notch centre back is something that’s required before anything else. As usual, I felt tentative about the lineup and his decision to pair Pau & Carlos, which is always a cause for concern. They’re just not compatible for some reason, which is hard to fathom, but it seems to create moments of hesitancy and confusion in my opinion. I’m not saying that it’s necessarily the fault of Carlos, but it’s a simple case of Pau being a better player, which makes it an obvious choice. I still think Duran is better suited in the role of impact player who has the ability to change the tempo of a game and provide a whole new dimension to our play, as well as the clear affect he has on opposing defences. His time will come soon enough with the increased amount of minutes spent on the pitch. He has less influence in a starting role, showing a lack of maturity in the adherence of a game plan. His natural ability, instincts, talent, and sheer physical presence are all clearly evident, but I believe that Emery is well aware of the potential if he’s coached and managed with some level of consideration for the player himself. Next season will be fireworks…great channel and content as always. UTV.

Cash was playing a hybrid role..not quite a wb or a rw. They couldn't pick him up because of his role. At times he dropped in at wb with konsa tucked in. At others he pushed forward as a rw as the furthest forward

I am not a villa fan but i have to say i have felt for a few years now that villa eventually is going to overtake spurs as a big 6 club. Having a champions league cup plus the history puts villa above spurs.
