If you don't mind me asking how much would a wire up like this cost in labour and materials? And how long did it take you?

Those cut and shut manifolds are probably half of your issues they’re designed for centre entry… the runners aren’t really meant for that setup. As for it blowing out spark gap the plugs down to 0.8 pretty common problem with the rb30’s being a 1.1 gap out of the box

Plugs were gapped down, we dont just throw plugs in right out the box. Although i agreed cut and shut manifolds aren’t amazing for dispersal, at this power level it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference. As long as its not tuned on the ragged edge they work well enough and for ease of maintenance I would rather run one of these than an OEM or a short runner FFP for this application/fitment.

@@BoostGumps yeah I just know from experience with an old setup i had running a similar setup (cut and shut manifold) cylinders 3&4 were running leaner than 1,2,5&6 after countless hours of chasing problems on the dyno swapped back to an oem top half and the issues were fixed and ur 100% right the serviceability of the oem is junk lol wasn’t having a dig or anything its one of those things that if you aren’t aware you never think about.

@@gavintrawn1800 yeh I always tune these cut and shits fairly fat for that reason, there are always a few cyls that dont get enough air so always needs to be considered! But yeh I flappin hate working on cars with std manifolds its a total PITA

Can we get abit of info on adjusting the boost solenoid with haltech, I’ve got one in my fz but don’t have any plumbing to it as I wasn’t sure how to tune it but I want to get off of 4psi gate spring for on the road

Awesome video! Glad you ended up making it as I have purchased an Rb30 GQ with the intention of doing a similar build. All due to seeing your older RB30 content. Wondering if you know what gearbox it's running and also what size rear housing on the turbo? Cheers! Keep up the great content!

Cheers!! Its just running a GU RD28 Manual Box AFAIK, and rear housing was T3 .8 A/R

Ah, Nistune isn't that bad... it's just completely counterintuitive and weird how you have to setup everything, and it's very old, and you can't tune it on the fly and it has very limited inputs and severely lacks in the feature department... yeah, OK... I see what you mean. 🤣

You are slightly wrong, Nistune can be tuned real time.

@@MasterCrans That's weird. Memory might be slightly unreliable, but I seem to remember it insisting on burning the ROM before applying changes, implying an ECU reset, implying the engine would stop, thus making the whole "real time" aspect a bit not very useful. But again, maybe I'm remembering wrong. Oh... that and the absence of feedback on many things you'd like to have data for while tuning ('cause I was road tuning (still am), 'cause I don't have a dyno (still don't)).
