The rail line between Vienna and Trieste was one of the all too few of the Austro-Hungarian empires direct accesses to the west, an empire had access via the black sea, it did not have access via the Baltic sea so this railway link was of incredible importance to it., I've long promised myself that I would travel on it, but at 80 years I think I can manage just watching what you have recorded., many many thanks, an extremely valuable insight....

Did you enjoy the ride and did you find it comfortable? Was there a sleep wagon when you boarded the train? How long did the part that you were in slovenia take, it looks like it took ages.

Thank you for your comment. Yes I did enjoy the journey as the landscape was really nice. The comfort was average as the coaches were very old. No sleeping coach as it was day train. Normally it takes about 5 hours to get through Slovenia but because the locomotive broke down it was about 6 and a half.
