Most of these transactions are bogus and non voluntary. All the PSBs instructed staff to do 10-20 transactions each day. HR department keenly followed it up with punitive stance in case of non compliance.

But Fiat currency is not backed by gold or other hard assets. Example dollar. Rupee either in paper or digital form is backed by gold reserve of RBI, apart from assurance from RBI. UPI also is instantaneous. Only benefit or drawback is transactions are not anonymous.
