I have always had much admiration for this man Tony Humphries - one of the most grounded, down to earth and genuine people I've had the good fortune to meet and be in the company of. Always learned from him as a teacher; inspired and excited by him - a national treasure! God bless the Hump! #dondada 💕

And the thing about Zanz's sound system ,i got off the bus by accident on night 3 blocks away and as i was walking i heard thumping bass coming from somewhere and thought it was another club in the area, but soon realized it was Tony trying to break the F'N concrete LOL. 3 city blocks and you could hear and start to feel the subs rockin.

TONY, thank you for the shout out to Andy & myself on The Beloved "Sun Rising" remix we did! We had and made good times in the studio those long nights... Thank you big bro!!! Thank you RBMA, some of the DJ's and House Music Lovers in the world needed this interview to remember what has inspired us to do what we do musically, TONY HUMPHRIES is a BIG reason for inspiration. One of my all time favorite DJ's growing up in Jersey, I was a regular at Club Zanzibar, I was so regular I didn't have to stand in line. We danced all night into the morning, Tony was recording on radio from 10 pm to 1 am, the party only got started after the recording, he would kick it up another notch. The preforming artist wouldn't show up until after 3 am, it was a great time. I had a change of cloths as I would sweat through the first set.

I had the pleasure of actually being in the booth with Tony at times at Club Zanzibar. Much respect goes out to Tony for what he has done for House music/Club Music/Underground Music or what ever you may call it. I just want to touch on a statement he made about " Structured Programming " I can't remember the exact date, But I remember asking him that same exact question...And he explained to me that very premise of how to keep a floor packed and consistent and I've use that same format in my career as a DJ and it has become second nature in all my sets. I haven't seen or heard from him in years, but he has truly become a force in music that sets him at the top of the game, Much respect Mr. Humpries. #livingledgend

I'm always coming back and checking this video so you're going to see a few comments from me, i wanna say "This time" ... BY THE TIME I WAS OLD ENOUGH TO GET IN (about 86/ 87) .... House music was KING, the Philly stuff was still being played, mostly after 2am . Some nights he'd turn the system up SOOOOO LOUD !!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 people just went BANANAS!!!! JUMPIN UP AND DOWN, SCREAMING, SINGING ALONG WITH THE SONG... it was absolutely amazing to be in the atmosphere as a teen and into my early twenties.

YES!!! YES TONY LOL,HE SAID HE MADE ZANZIBAR HIS PARADISE GARAGE, and so yeah, why not? it's more cozy less to worry or think about, just concentrate on the music. But i wish i could've heard Larry play at the Garage in like say 80 to 86 cause thats when a lot of hot hot hot music came out(too many to try and list) but at that time i was barely going to basement/house parties, around the corner or next block was a different world in 1980,i didn't start to go to a club until like 84 (New Experience had just turned into Club Sensations) wanted to go to Paradisio but i heard bad stuff about the crowd, and i didn't start at Zanzibar until 86/87. Which where i got my Philly education, i never heard a DJ play like Tony Humphries(and still haven't really).

Agreed but the over intellectualised context itself already makes it a stiff interview situation. "Music Academy" is pretentious name and setting. A club set up would lend itself to everyone being more relaxed and at home. Not one of the guests they have had would have so intellectual about music. But I love to hear what Tony Humphries is saying and many others, so something good is coming out of it with all the wanking going on around it
