Look, credit for taking the time to make such a video... but... for heaven's sake, those hexagonal objects with a threaded hole are NUTS, not BOLTS. And for what it's worth, they are a lot easier to loosen and tighten with a socket. Socket sets can be obtained very inexpensively, and are well worth having for many purposes.
@MrEsuoh2 ай бұрын
@@Graham_Wideman Yeah, I take responsibility for that. And thank you. Even given what was explained, and you are gentle with your tools(even needle nose pliers, if they are used), the steps are still viable and no harm should be done to your device.
@mwall54102 ай бұрын
The point of the video was also to be able to do the job with typical household tools, as well as minimal amounts of tools. Not everyone has a socket set as its unnecessary for the common household. Nuts and bolts are for mechanics and plumbers. Not for hanging pictures or mounting a TV. Also, pointing out the incorrect terminology is just plain nitpicky. It’s a visual tutorial, yes he got it wrong but it’s just a verbal mistake and the correct object can be implied by following the tutorial correctly anyway.

@Graham_Wideman2 ай бұрын
@@MrEsuoh I agree, you can complete the job carefully with pliers ... but it's waaaay too easy for needle nose plies to slip off the nut just when applying some loosening or tightening force... and then chew or scratch up something else. I've seen that happen very frequently.

This is very nice and it can solve some of the first "bugs" that can appear in a mk2, but at the end of the day it won't help at all... Unfortunetly the problem will remain in the metallic black paint that covers the bottom of the fx buttons. It keeps deteriorating with time while you use your loopstation and, with the absence of it, the buttons start failing again. I don't know why Boss decided to use this type of buttons instead of good quality switches but it is what it is. I say all this just to warn people that this tutorial may not help in their specific case. Either way, thanks Esuoh for being the first speaking about it ❤

@@nils_tabThanks for the insight. Just to throw my experience out there. I have cleaned the device many times dating back maybe a year and a half ago. And in my case, it's never failed me and I have never had any issues. I have heard people talking about the materials and choices used for the buttons. And while I have no knowledge of what was used, my buttons have worked great ever since cleaning. And I even remove some of that residue on the fx buttons, as the video explains. So yeah, this video may or may not work for everyone, but it's definitely worked for me. 👌

I think boss decided to use these buttons because membranes are more sensitive than switches. Using a switch would really not be pleasant and practical. The best thing is to contact roland and just buy some, it's not too expensive and you avoid wasting several months returning it because apart from resetting the device they won't do much
@MrEsuoh2 ай бұрын
@@XbatSFM Yes! Although sadly, I hear they no longer sell any components that require you to get inside of the device. I don't know if that is just in the USA. But that's what I was told. Any internal issues need to be sent for repairs. Which yeah, can take up some time and can be pricey.

@@MrEsuoh Well I live in Europe, I asked Roland for PLAY and TRACK buttons and they send me the references without any questions. I just had to buy them through a certified music shop (thomann in my case)

I'm actually not sure. I would do some research if it's safe to use on electronics. As that's the most important factor here. Another important factor is the percentage of the solution. You want a higher percentage as you don't want to leave any water or residue.
