I purchased this boat 6 months ago. Stock out the box, I hit 42 mph. Tx/rx needs to be upgraded but is a great beginner boat. You guys are awesome BTW

Neat little boat! I can see some folks pouting at it but I think those are the performance hunters. This summer I had my Proboat Shreddy at the lake and my BIL was excited to bring his boat along, well it turned out to be something in this category. No comparison to the Shreddy in terms of size or speed - but you know what? He had a blast and his kids (under 6) both got to try it too! Whereas he tried mine on a reduced throttle and it was pretty fast for him (it's fast for me honestly!).

Driving a semi in California is tough enough (trucks are persecuted by law enforcement here 🙄), but dealing with car traffic is just intolerable; so I’m now driving overnight to avoid traffic, and sleeping during the day. I have two WLtoys boats. The 3s and the larger 4s. They are good bang for the buck. If you run a good cnc prop and scuff up the rear 2/3 of the bottom of the hull slightly with some rough sandpaper, it improves the speed quite a lot. You want just light scratches in the bottom. Don't go crazy. A roughed up riding surface traps air and reduces drag.

I have the earlier non led light version. Needs slow acceleration from a standstill if you are to avoid cavitation on the prop. Also, I sprayed the removable top deck yellow because as you said, it's difficult to see. Fabulous for the price. Good review guys.

Did my first run today and I almost wen't from the scene without the boat because it submerged for almost 5 (!!!) minutes so I kind of gave up hope - I probably make a mistake and hit throttle while it was diving. Luckily it popped up again. I had the tip protector on it there was quite some muddy residue on it - guess it went all the way to the ground lol. There was some water inside, perhaps a half cup of coffee - not a lot for this long period of time under water. All in all it's fun to drive but the water has to be almost perfect stagnant/still if you want to perform speed runs without u-boating all the time^^

i would say that would be an awesome budget first boat... it is fast,does not leak ,has self righting, comes complete with battery,has low voltage warning beeper and is very cheap price... i have 7 boats that i have not used for over 10 years and i spent more money for speed controllers than this boats total cost... stick with a 1800-2000 3s pack and you should never have issues.

I think there's a slight trim issue with it, there shouldn't be that much spray midships. Try to raid the trimtabs a little, maybe half a turn and see if it helps. If not, try another half turn. Keep going in small increments until the spray moves back. And that might help with the slow take off too.

Can someone explain the DIVING SUBMARINE ACTION of this boat. Just ran it today and several times it dove and totally submerged for a couple of seconds before popping up. If it wasn't water tight it would have sunk.

i think theres a better prop for this one that will help it blast off from a dead stop as well as nice top speed...very rarely do rc boats come with a prop that gives top performance.

There's a brand new boat udi1022 24'' v hull carbon looking color runs on 3 or 4s all nice metal hardware 100 amp esc for $200 on bg... no one has done a review on it... Please put it in your list i really think it is a winner for us budget boat guys...thanks for sharing

I got a similar boat to yours for my birthday and the manual says it supposed to go 25 miles an hour with the full battery I just wanted to let you know to be careful with the putting it in the water upside down my boat has a watertight seal on it like a double door so no water gets up in it. If you ever come to Memphis Tennessee we have to race boats. PS my boat has a water cooled system and I thought about driving it on the lake but the problem with that is the stuff in the lake may get pulled up into the boat and then I can’t get it out I did drive it in the pool in the backyard to make sure of that. PS love your videos oh and tell Abby I said congratulations on the new baby. I mean for real we need to get together and race our boats have fun.

@@isaactudor6504 you need to grease all the shaft and connecting parts to your motor. A weird smell is because it might heat up. Have you put anything as a cooler around your motor and ESC? That's a big area not to over look.

Lost mine today. It dove frequently leading to damage from hitting theground and significant water ingress. Apparently because of this the controller falsely assumed low battery, providing too little power to the motor to flip the boat (which I had relied on). Drifted out of range and is lost...

Guys I was about to do a video on A FT009 I bought over 6yrs ago and is the brushed version of this boat😂These boats are bulletproof with solid shafts and I give this to anyone to drive if they want👍❤️Just bought 2 new battery’s to replace the one’s that came with it that finally went bad.Buy a pair of these boats for the price for twice the fun❤️

For those wondering if the wl916 is a rebranded ft012? The answer is NO. I've had the ft012 for a while and just got the wl916. The outer shells are very similar. However the internals are very different. You cannot use each other's controller. ie. the protocol is different. The feilun ft012 is the better boat. It is faster, drives better and has the better controller. The wl916 was more water tight. PS. Don't get me wrong the wl916 is a good boat and well worth buying.

but i have seen wl916 go much faster (35mph) than this one,either with a good 4s pack or a slightly bigger better prop... have not seen ft012 stock setup handle 4s or even a bigger prop... i believe wl916 has better speed controller (can handle more amp)..as far as handling i am sure both boats can be set up better with simple trim,cog,and fin adjustments to handle pretty equal... I have had many years and many boats and watched sooo many videos on boats this wl916 is a great boat for $100 and all great boats can be tuned to run incredible... Happy boating!
