I only have one issue with this video. At about 5:13 he shows the calculation for Q = C X V. He should make it clear about the units. Q is in Coulombs, C in Farads (not microfarads), V in volts. The result of his calculation is correct, but he should not play fast and loose with the units. Units are important. Q = .000003 (Farads) * 9V = .000027Q, which is 27uQ.
@collegestudent60714 жыл бұрын
@@maximusfl3926 Your comment doesn't make sense. The prefixes have nothing to do with units. Micro coulombs are still coulombs. Micro farads are still farads. It's just another way of writing the values. And it's not 27uQ or 27 micro charge... that doesn't make sense. Coulombs are the units of charge. Hence the correct answer is 27uC.
@maximusfl39264 жыл бұрын
@@collegestudent6071 Units matter. You said "Micro coulombs are still coulombs" , yes they are but the scale is different. You will know the different between getting shocked by 1 A versus 1ua. The difference could mean death. When formula's are created with specific units, you need to maintain those units, or do the conversions, in order for the calculation to be correct. So if the formula calls for coulombs, you need to convert micro coulombs to coulombs and then do the math. That was my point, see my example.

I have been studying RC circuits and came across a question about a circuit with a 10 volt power supply, 10k ohm resistor and 10uF capacitor. I have learned about the equation for finding t (tau). A question that was asked was how long will it take to charge he capacitor to full voltage. The answer was found by finding the value of t by multiplying the resistor value by the capacitor value. There was a graph shown for the capacitor to reach full charge would be 5 time constants. My question is: Will it take 5 time constants on any capacitor to reach its full charge? I hope I have explained this well enough. Many thanks in advance and thank you for another excellent video.
