Looking really pretty. I haven't build a thermal glider since my 99" span Oly II in the 1980s. I bought a new interior door and set it on saw horses in my bedroom as a build table. ;-) Happy flying!

You are incredibly talented and have awesome tools and equipment. I will get there one day my friend. Keep up the great work and thanks for inspiring others to create. One of my favorite feelings in the world is creating my own R/C aircraft and making it fly!!!!!

Hello dear Marko, first of all I want to express my endless thanks for the amazing posts you have made. I wonder what are the dimensions of the materials such as Balsa and plywood in the DXF files we use while making this plane, in terms of thickness. Thanks in advance.
@markoroolaid3 жыл бұрын
Hello In the construction of the plane I have used balsa trees 100x1000x2mm- 7 sheets, 5mm 3 sheets. A little thicker balsa, for making a plane nose. Plywood takes some A4 size. The plywood was 4mm thick.

at 3:36, glue is WHAT type? should not be water-based. that is one weird dam way to make a wing. cheers
@markoroolaid3 жыл бұрын
Hello. This is a common water-based PVA wood glue.
@daviddavids28843 жыл бұрын
@@markoroolaid well, then, it is a POOR choice.!!!! in part, because components cannot really be CLAMPED. also, balsa is VERY porous. wood cement will Fully cure, in 24 hours. NOT so, water-based glue. especially, after it is ENCLOSED in the covering. googletranslate

Reminds me of my building the Olympic 100 glider in the 1980s in India It had beautiful carved solid balsa anti vortex wingtips. It was scratch built from the plans. Great memories !

let me know please about lenght of wing spar. let describe a single half of wing, right or left. it contains the main part and the tip part. but there are two separated spar in each of part,and they are not joined with each other. main and tip part only join by ribs. did i understand it rightly ?

Nice model, I remember when most models were balsa. Built many of them in my day. I love that you showed the entire build, but I'm confused by to what end. Is this a how to, because the time lapse makes that impossible. If it's just a video on you building the model then it's too long, way too much content for a "Look what I did". In your title you say 3d printed, but obviously it's not. You have to do some digging to discover that the only thing 3d printed is a camera mount. Also, I'm with @David Davids, wood glue is never a good option. It's: 1. Slow - Who wants to wait 24hrs for a joint to harden 2. Heavy - Extra weight is never a good thing in a model Rc plane, specially Sailplanes. It increases wing loading which means stall speeds rise, lift decreases, etc... 3. Glue joints are vulnerable to humidity. Add a little humidity, add the covering and put in the sun for a bit and see what happens. CA glues are great, I recommend getting a thick and a thin version. The accelerator, which I see you had and at least 2 different epoxy glues. I'd recommend a fast setting (Like 10 Min) for those quick jobs and a slow set (Like 24hr) for the jobs that strength is critical. Also get some microballons (Micro sized glass air filled beads so small it looks like powder). When weight is critical, like the tail of an aircraft and you intend on using an epoxy the microballons are mixed with the epoxy to make it much lighter. Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for what you are doing here, I love RC models, specially Sailplanes and that model seems interesting and I've considered getting a set of plans for my own use. The use of balsa has declined and the best practices of building with it have faded. Anyways, keep up the content. Have a good one.
