How amazing to see so many RC boat and motor enthusiasts gathered in Stäfa! It's always inspiring to witness the passion and skill people dedicate to this hobby. The boat models are truly impressive, and the gathering seems to have been an exciting moment for all involved. Congratulations to the community for promoting and celebrating this beautiful form of water recreation!

I'm 50 years old. I'm a Miami, Florida (USA) native. Also a life long boater and an RC hobbyist. I have always had RC boats. As a kid my dad would take me to Orange Blossom Hobbies in Miami. I't no longer in business but it was the premier hobby shop in all of south Florida. I remember seeing the 50 and 56 inch Aeromarine Apache RC boats with a weed whacker engine and scale AMPS outdrive and thinking...wow....amazing. And at the time the has and nitro boats were the fastest. But now, the electrics have taken over. I will always love the gasoline powered RC boats. But you can't deny the benefits of today's electric RC. Quiet, instant run, nearly as much run time as gas, and more reliable. Not only that...much faster. I have a fleet of RC boats, they were all gas, now they are all electric. I actually have an Aeromarine Apache 50 that I bought as a bare hll in 2000 from Orange Blossom. It started out with a Homelite weed-eater engine, then it was a 26cc Zenoah. Now it's got twin brushless electric motos and vintage AMPS scal outdrives and it is awesome. It's a little slower than the single Zenoah with surface drive. But it's much cooler and super scale now. Video of transom view.....kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXXGlXWdnMulZqc

I ran in the IMPBA unlimited hydro for a few years. I ran two modified Pico 60’s turning 22,500rpm with tuned exhaust and tuned props. Nitro methane monsters with the two skaggs in front, and just wide enough for the props and rudder in the back. About 110- 120mph. Got a few trophies too. It got just too expensive to stay fast enough so I quit racing. It was fun tho. This video takes me back . Thanks for sharing! (from Gainesville Florida USA)

great to see some fuel boats after all these years. I am 58 now and in my teens 15-18 / 1979 - 1981 I used to race multi hull with the South Australian Model ship and Power boat club at Bonython Park pond. I was using OPS 21 and K/B 21 engines. Played around with an OPS 60 and 90. I put a post up on another channel show casing an electric boat and asked the question where have all the power boats gone ? he said its all electric now .. obviously not just stumbled on this vid. Given its 2021 video footage I suspect fuel boats are still around seeing its only 2024. what a joy to see menthanal powered racers out there. great video brought back memories. OH ! in my teens I came third in a Multi hulled race at Mount Gambier in the early eighties running and ops 21 and an Octura prop. the prop was one size smaller than what the OPS could have pulled and it screamed ha love it.

Hello, thank you very much for your wonderful comment. Unfortunately, petrol and nitro-powered boats are becoming increasingly rare here in Switzerland. Very nice. newbie here. do these crafts use a transmission that increases or decreases the prop rpm from the crank rpm?
@swissrcvideo Жыл бұрын
That depends on the engine: the 125cc Rotax has a gearbox with a speed increase. This allows you to drive relatively small propellers. With a 2-cylinder Zenoah drive with 62ccm, the speed is 1:1. Because the engine already has almost 20,000 revolutions. Electric motors, often 2 motors built into the boat, are usually driven directly because they turn even higher and therefore have smaller propellers mounted.

With all the power in electrical systems why would you want gas? I am not being a jurk I am just curious . It used to drive me crazy that the gas cars were more powerful than my electric RC cars and now that's not anywhere near the case. I've got 20 horsepower in a 10 scale RC truck and it will blow the doors off anything ever built!! Not to mention there's no maintenance tuning or noise I just don't know why anybody would want to mess around with gas?? My biggest problem is keeping the power to the ground. It flips over backwards at 20% throttle if I don't have special configuration on the speed control and controller or slipper clutch. But it's the same with gas or electric now! Way way OP.
