Its really great to see how far the hobby has come. Forty years ago you'd see large scale aircraft but nothing like these. I flew two good sized scale planes back in the day. The "Guillow's" P51B Mustang and the "Royal Kits" F4U-1D Corsair. Both were 60 sized single cylinder engines(OS Max)but they don't compare to the scale planes of today. Fantastic landings from some very talented builders and pilots. I'm a fan!!!

Fantastic! It would be interesting to see those RC landing filmed from about 9" - 12" (whatever fits the size of aircraft)above ground level to give an in scale viewpoint .... maybe give the grass a good mow, have an in scale flimsy wind-sock and a few other bits and pieces around, maybe a few of the other aircraft visible as possible, and exclude the operators and shadows from the shot. It could really enhance the impression of reality?

The last one on the video, the tri-plane, put the left wing on the ground. If you watch closely, it looks like the pilot was holding left aileron until the wing was almost on the ground, then he reversed them. Either way, it wasn't gust of wind that put the wing on the ground.

Your field has more spectator protection than I’m used to here in the states, is that a legal mandate or just a club or field decision? Kinda surprised that with that great protection for spectators there aren’t any pilot stations as well?
@RCPLANEVIDEOS6 жыл бұрын
that's a requirement with the security fence. I think only if you had more than 100m distance to the audience you would not need. I have never seen these boxes with us. Our seats are very short compared to what you see on videos from USA. Most of our airfields have 120-140m ...

Loved the video, but I object to the full sized aircraft being called the 'real ones'. All the controls, like flaps, ailerones, rudder and scale details like radial engines, turbo prop and turbine engines with full functioning landing gear as displayed in some of todays incredible rc aircraft make them as real as the full size aircraft. So, differentiate them as 1/8, 1/3 or 1/4 scale etc. RC or full scale pilot controlled, but they are all 'real'. And the money being spent on some of the best RC could buy a small full sized aircraft.

The "REAL" ones? You're not a builder and flyer, are you? How less "real" are any of the MINIATURES that have flown, FLOWN in this video? They fly and their pilots are far more skilled than the "real" pilots. The "real" pilots have a major advantage in that they are always pointed in the right direction, they have seat of the pants feedback and their machines fly far more slowly and have huge aerodynamic advantages.

Great to see all the "grease job" landings, thank you for doing and thank you for noting the aircraft that is shown. If I had to pick the "best" landing (most realistic) I think it would be a tie between the #5 Corsair and the Fok DRI with the degree of difficulty going to the Fokker. I think we can learn from watching this: 1) let the airplane do the flying and don't over control and 2) don't be afraid to slow down. Most of the models were too fast on landing - compare to the real airplanes at the end. Nevertheless, these pilots make it all look so easy and I wish I could fly like that. See the crash vids for my flying.
@RCPLANEVIDEOS6 жыл бұрын
many thanks for your nice comment ... and we must not forget, they are models, not real planes. Mostly the models are too heavy, so you have to land faster. Best regards !!!
