I trail ride my gen7 , like on loose dirt and leaves etc. For me the stock axels have the juice in gearing I need to get up loose dirt I cant crawl up . My buddy has the portals , and they are badass tho. Great video man!

In my opinion, it looks like that gen 7 could use some extra weight. Like steel front and rear bumpers and rock sliders. Then a winch.

I was actually planning on getting some steel bumpers the rock sliders I found some for the gent 7 but they are out of stock on Amain hobby website. I was actually thinking about making my own rock sliders I don't know yet 🤔and for the front bumper I kind of like the one it's on there now trying to find something that looks like that.

I agree. I have the Gen 7 pro. I have all new metal front and rear bumpers. New metal bottom links. Skid plates. Light bar. Winch on the may. But still wasn't enough weight. Then I figure if you soak the tires in water. It helps alot.

Completely new to crawlers, so question. I assume the portal axles lower the gear ratio, increase ground clearance, up the torque? I will receive my Gen 7 Pro tomorrow. I went with the 7, as I didn't like the body on the Gen 8 (silly, I know). I'm only backyard crawling for fun, but should I consider getting the axles in the future, or just put money away for a more capable crawler if I enjoy this aspect of the hobby? BTW: Great run there with the truck. It's a good looking setup.

Thank u for watching 😄. I didn't mind the axles that came on the Gen-7 at all... I would definitely drive it around and see how you like it before you put any money into it. The portal axles are only $99 which is not badd👍 And also you do get a slipper clutch assembly with the portal axle kit which you do not have on your stock Gen. 7. So as long as you don't put too much power in it you should be OK like I said I had no issues with mine but when you're crawlin something will eventually break... And my Gen-8 is just as fast as my Gen. 7 and all depends on your pinion gear..

Great video man . I have a question for you !! What kind of shocks are you using on this gen 7 ? I got gen 7 sport and its shock are quite stiff . Can you suggest me which shocks should i use ?

Thanks for watching! I'm Actually just running the stock shocks on my Gen. 7 spot. You can always try different shock oil. There is a bunch of different ones out there just measure your shocks. it all depends on your preference of height

Thank you very much 🙂 I like the Stock Super Swampers that come on the Gen-7 & the Gen-8. The Gen-7 foams are better then the Gen-8 in my opinion... And for these prolines I really like them they do really well on the terrain that we have here. They are on the bigger, around a 4.70 Size in the XL I would recommend them They should fit really nice on your Gen-8 👍

I like the Gen-7 Sport bud that Gen-7 does not come with Portal axles. that's an upgrade part sold separately.....The Gen-8 Scout ii comes with the portals axles for $299 The Gen-7 is $199 In my opinion they're both great rigs it just depends on what your budget is

I was actually going to do a video soon about that. bud the Austar Are a decent tire I did notice that they were out a little bit faster than a typical pro lines but what do you expect sometimes from knock off tire. They do grip pretty well with a medium foam would probably be better with a rig that's it's a little bit heavier unless you want Swap out the foams to some Softer... Over all there not a badd tire especially if you're on a budget I still will use them just on a different rig...hope that help.

I would think thay would work but the Redcat portals comes with the servo relocation mount. So if u get the Scx10iii ones u will need to get the mount

Alright ill look into it the set was looking at had the mount on them or comes with it there metal axles been doing small upgrades like shocks 2.2 wheels tires but was looking at the metal portal axles
