I had thought of building one, but use an inexpensive EDF on a swivel for power and steering. The idea of having above the water air plane props so they don't get fouled is an awesome idea! I plan on building mine out of just 2 inch foam board with a V cut in it to catch the rescued boat.

Nice idea , I'm making a rescue boat out of a cheap 25 sea arrow boat from wal mart , gonna make foam arms on it to extend it but a arrow already has that shape but i dont run in weeds often but if they both get stuck , then swim time , but i'm doin that now anyways

20 years ago when Iwas running my air boat I would use a fishing pole with a heavy sinker cast over the boat and drape the line over the boat thus pulling it in sometimes a couple of trys depending on the wind

@heathdspain The problem with using nitro or gas motors there is no reverse, I use forward and reverse and variable speed of each engine to steer and maneuver the barge.

May I suggest a couple of aircraft floats instead of pipes and lagging which may allow a bit less drag moving forward, I am building one similar after seeing this video I'm not knocking the idead it is brilliant just thought maybe some floats might offer less drag.

Well let's see! I suppose you would have to do what you would do if you didn't have a rescue boat either swim for it or get a bigger boat and row out and get it. But I've been using this for 3 years and never once had to do that yet.
