RC Sailplane Winch / Retriever Operation

I love the irony intended or not of using a $1000 winch system to launch a $20 foamboard sailplane, that said I am desperate not to pay winch prices or even the price of importing a hi start for my 2.5m and 3m saiplanes which have not flown in some time due to the lack of said devices, so your demo will help inspire and inform my own design winch.

Very elegant device, and nice touch with the foot switches. Btw, a very nice glider as well. Looks somewhat like the FT diy glider, but much bigger. Can you share some details about the glider?

That is a FT Simple Soarer. Flys very well off of the winch and is great for introducing new pilots to sailplanes and winching/ hi starts.

Mine will have variable speed and a calibrated adjustable maximum pull limit switch.

Why do you need the two winches? Is it possible to launch your plane with one?

Yes you can use without a retrieval winch. Just means you have to walk and find the dropped tow line and walk it back to the launch peddle. So it saves time.
