RC Servo Load ratings, do they mean anything?Lets load test them and find out

In this video i give the servo load tester its inaugural run with a HiTec D845WP, a Rovan 75kg and an AGFRC 78kg to find out if those load ratings they assign actually mean anything in the real world. Hey Todd, yeah i'm guessing they are going more with "rotational" torque than" lever" torque. I'm curious what numbers i get when checking the actual steering mechanism. Thanks for checking it out buddy

@@RCRoads Hey Rc, well there is a learning curve involved BUT thanks to the marvel of Object Oriented Programming languages like C++ so much of the gory details are handled in manufacturer supplied, royalty free libraries that you integrate into your own program to deal with low level hardware interfacing. Then you just have to "function call" into them and carry on with what you are doing. Stay tuned, because i have a whole bunch of things coming up. Time is the big issue. I'm not too far away from retirement so things will speed up theni

Thanks for taking the time to explain the process you use. Retirement is super as long as you have project to keep you busy. Some people like to travel but I'm not a big fan. Cruses used to be fun. When I retired I moved to Los Cruses New Mexico. Super cheap compared to Cali. but eventually I started missing my friends and Grandkids and moved back. New Mexico was an offroad RC heaven. since the rating is in kg-cm I thought that meant the lever arm was 1cm, like foot-pounds arm is 1ft ?

Yeah its supposed to be but i want to know how these things function in real world applications and how much lever length affects their performance. I am going to re-test with different arms including short arms. Thanks for checking it out

​@@RCWalletVacuum Thank you. It's great to see actual tests! Unless physics of levers, or my brain, takes a vacay, to convert a measured torque to kg-cm (and compare to the published kg-cm spec): kg-cm = measured-kg * arm-length-centimeters = measured-kg * arm-length-inches * 2.54

I am planning this weekend to test an AGFRC 100kg for the 50cc Vekta, then i have a different load cell setup to test the Vekta's steering drag. we'll see how those numbers match up. If you can work out the point that the servo saver gives way “ie 6kg” or so , anything more then that is not needed ? Like if the servo can generate even 10kg of force against the servo saver but the saver spring gives way at 6kg ?

Good information Brian. Question for ya mind you my IQ is no where near your caliber what would happen if you hooked this up to a receiver and radio and ran it up against your sensor or would the data not run through the system that way? Just curious. Great video I have a 100kg agfrc that we can test too

Hey Kyle, well for the record, i'm a slow learnin' dumbass and i'm sure you are way smarter than me. That being said you could absolutely use your radio system on this. The load cell and processor for reading it combined are only about $50. I'd be glad to point you to the parts and how to use them
