RC SHIPS | MICRO MAGIC - Making of Graupner´s little Sailboat...
At the end of every year, we try to bring you some special shots! This year our Follower Andreas Büttner-Land (watch his channel below) suggested to bring a lovely Foto-Series about his MICRO MAGIC from Graupner. When building it (he sees himself as a beginner in ship modelling) he did take pictures nearly every important step to help others building this versatile, handy but seaworthy little boat! As this really is a great idea and he wanted it to reach out, to help as many as possible, we did turn it into a video using our old "lazy evening sail" Video as a backdrop.
So, please do share it to whoever might have interest! And lets get some more of these great little boats spread modelboating around!

Am Ende jedes Jahres, versuchen wir immer mal ein wenig zu spielen und ungewöhnliche Aufnahmen online zu stellen. Dieses Jahr hat uns unser Freund und Zuschauer Andreas Büttner-Land (der Link zu seinem kleinen, aber feinen, Kanal steht unten) vorgeschlagen, doch einfach mal seine Fotos vom Bau der MICRO MAGIC von Graupner zu veröffentlichen. Er hat von Beginn an fast jeden wichtigen Schritt toll dokumentiert in der Hoffnung, dass diese Aufnahmen auch anderen beim Bau der kleinen, vielseitigen, handlichen und trotzdem so seetüchtigen Yacht behilflich sein würden. Er selbst sieht sich als Einsteiger in den Schiffsmodellbau, hat aber auch in den Kommentaren schon dem einen oder anderen Profi mit Rat und Idee beiseite gestanden!
Da wir die Idee gut fanden, haben wir diese dann kurzerhand in ein altes Micro Magic Video von uns (der gemütliche Abendtörn) eingebaut und einen Film draus gemacht!
Teilt es mit so vielen wie möglich und verbreitet es... vielleicht finden sich dann ja doch das eine oder andere kleine Segelboot mit einem weiteren Einsteiger in unser schönes Hobby am See... :-)

Hallo Ronald, ich habe gerade das Modell eines 45-foot RB-M der U.S. Coast Guard in Arbeit, d.h. ein leicht modifiziertes Modell des Multi Jet Bootes von Graupner. Bis zum Jahresende sollte es hoffentlich fahrfertig werden 😉. VG, Andreas

Fantastic little sailboat and with a good turn of speed too !, a real shame we dont get these here in New Zealand, ive never seen one for sale here, i have built a thin ply hull version of my own but its not ready for the water yet, a similar size but not as pretty, lol

(by the way: It´s called Micro Magic and is fabricated by Graupner, you could order it online if you´d like to)... your´s is a selfbuild made from Plywood!! That´s great! Especially in this size! What glue did you use for the deck / hull join? 😎

Hi Martin,.. sorry for the late answer,.. I hope Andreas will give you a more detailed answer, but I think he told me, he did pin it down with Durax superglue and then filled the gap with Bison Glue, a flexible and slow glue. As you can see in the Clip, he did set the deck and the hull with lot´s of adhesive tape to let it dry... I hope this helps a bit... :-) Best wishes, Holger

Hi Martin, I'm sorry, that I didn't see your question earlier. I actually wanted to use Pattex Stabilit Express for the entire model, but I was afraid, that I might be too slow to glue deck and hull together. I also worried, if I would prepare enough amount of glue for the entire edge of the deck. Therefore I took a little risk and used the Bison Plastic glue for this specific part, after I've tested it before. The Bison glue smells exactly like UHU Allplast glue and creates on the finger tips the same feeling. I think, that these two glues are pretty much the same. After I've checked the glue joint and found out, that it wasn't watertight, I've used Durax Superglue to fill the gap. I wish you all the best! With regards, Andreas

I cannot believe some viewers have spoken badly about this little boat. Evererything that Graupner makes WORKS!! That is the Graupner reputation. I have only ever read positive things about the Micro Magic. They must have set it up wrongly and then blame Graupner. I do not believe it.

Hi Peter Cane, the Micro Magic is indeed a fantastic little sailboat and it's very popular among those, who like to race. It's very easy to transport and you can still sail it, when other modelmakers are taking their ship models due to strong wind and big waves already out of the water. Of course, it's a small model and therefore some bigger sailboat models are faster, but it's a really, really good one.

I think the name "Micro Magic" is perfect for this little miracle. It sails so well for it's size. I bought mine second hand, and had to tinker a little with it to make it work ok. Like there was some water ingress, which took a while to diagnose, but turned out to be a few bad spots in the joint between deck and hull. Running a bit of thin CA along the seam fixed that. Apart from some rigging wearing out at times, it has been pretty solid since.

Hi Hänno,.. das ist schwierig zu sagen 🤔. Rein subjectiv betrachtet würde ich pauschal auf 1:50 tippen. Davon solltes es die meisten rc Schiffe geben. Bei SAR-Schiffen allerdings dürfte es deutlich größer sein... ich würde da auf 1:25 tippen... aber, lieber Zuschauer,.. wenn Ihr mich hier korrigieren könnt, lasst es mich wissen! Was denkt Ihr, ist der am meisten angetroffene Maßstab im Schiffsmodellbau? Danke und liebe Grüße!

Das Micro Sailboot "Soil" von Graupner hat total schlechte Segeleigenschaften und zwischen Kiel und Rumpf sind diese vom Werk her undicht. Ich habe dieses Segelboot und kann es absolut nicht empfehlen. Hoffe dass dieses Modell besser ist. LG 🤗🌲

Ja,... da kann ich Dir, leider, nur zustimmen! Ich hatte die Soil ebenfalls kurz in meiner Hand... und war sehr enttäuscht 😞 .... die Soil ist leider eher robbe Spoil 😔. Ganz anders die Micro Magic. Meine habe ich nun seit drei Jahren in Betrieb und sie schon auf diversen Reisen als “schnell mal dabei Boot“ mit gehabt.. 😇👍 Solltest Du da noch einen Versuch wagen wollen, wäre die kleine (nicht ganz so klein, wenn Du sie mit der Soil vergleichst) robbe Überlegung wert.. 😉⛵👍 Komm gut ins neue Jahr! Hallo Holger Danke für deinen Tipp 👍 So eine Micro Yacht hat viele Vorteile was den Transport angeht. Klar die Segeleigenschaften können nicht so gut sein wie bei einer Großen. Hatte mir die Soil auch nur geholt weil ich die ohne Probleme in mein Kajak bekommen habe. Finde ich total cool wenn man gleichzeitig mit dem Modell auf gleicher Höhe oder mitten auf dem See fährt bzw. eine längere Strecke am Stück segelt. Das kommt mir jetzt irgendwie bekannt vor 😇. Ich habe mit der Pollux und dem Kanu früher auch oft Touren unternommen. Die Micro Magic packen wir jetzt oft einfach in den Kofferraum. und wenn wir am Ziel ein Gewässer haben, wird sie dort hinein geworfen und eine Runde gesegelt 😇⛵. Soll ist sie schon ziemlich weit gereist, die kleine “CLAUDY“...
