Dive into a solo adventure with me as I revive a classic Radio Shack RC tank from the '80s, brought to you by our fantastic sponsor PCBWay. Stranded with non-functional electronics, I embark on the ultimate DIY journey to reconstruct the circuitry from the ground up. Join me in this sponsored escapade, where every twist of the soldering iron is powered by PCBWay's support. Witness the resurrection of a vintage gem, thanks to the collaboration with our sponsor, PCBWay!

Great job, that model doesn’t have to be full proportional directional. Perfect speed for directional change.

Yeah, at least both treads turn when it turns. Instead of just stopping one side.

That is one odd variant. With only one motor it must have an odd way to steer. I have used parts of the bigger versions on some space tanks with missing tracks. butt they are slightly different from your tracks as well. Hmm..

Around 13:45, do you use those pieces you cut out for other projects in the future or just trash them?

If there was anything good I would have kept them, but that was all stuff not worth keeping.

Companies using those 12v batteries is ridiculous. They're hard to find and expensive. Anything they're used for could have easily been manufactured to run on a 3V coin or even a AAA, available in any Dollar Tree.
@tarstarkusz
@tarstarkusz 8 ай бұрын
The 12v battery is just 8 1.5v alkaline button cells. So it will work from 8v to 12v. The tolerance is probably good enough to work down to 6v when your alkaline 9V is about dead at 1v per cell.

I love your tap smack desoldering action. Ever since I saw you do that years ago I barely ever use my desoldering tools. I just smack and tap. Only time I bust out the desoldering tools if its a board thats too big or something that I can't use the smack tap technique.

That's funny. It's a good method. That's about the only time I don't use it too. Maybe when it's too delicate as well.

You can also wire the unused side of the L293D to be a inverter so that you can control the motor side of the L293d with a single High/Low control line. I do it all the time.
@RandiRain
@RandiRain 8 ай бұрын
I don't understand how. If what you input is what you get out, how does it invert?

Not sure if KZbin will let me link to a video I did on moding a dual H bridge to a single line control for a single motor or not. The method will work with any of the dual H-Bridge chips. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3W7lIipocl8iZYsi=irtR-Zz0L5IkdYaP@@RandiRain

Can you link a circuit diagram? That sounds super useful.
@Robothut
@Robothut 8 ай бұрын
I linked a video I did on modding dual H-bridge chips. Basically the unused outputs are tri state in that they have a open circuit position as well as high and low. So that means you can add a pull up or pull down resistor to these outputs to make them a inverted state that can be used to control the side of motor side of the dual chip.@@vaderdudenator1
