To adjust "loop lengths" just tap "edit" button 3 times on the individual tracks.

Hi, are you able to see the length of the loop while recording or is it guess work? Excellent tutorial!

I have 505 mk2 . I play cajon . So while I press rec button on track 1 and take my hands back to play cajon and when I stop playing cajon and press stop button . The gap between pressing the play and rec button and hands back on cajon . There is a gap . Which is also a part of loop . I am not getting a perfect seamless loop

I hate criticizing other musicians, especially when their playing and knowledge is as pristine, advanced, and likeable as yours. But you really shouldn‘t be doing these videos in connection with the RC-505, as long as you don‘t master this piece of gear as you master your musical instruments, because your wasting unsuspecting people‘s time. What‘s to be critiqued? 1 You explain effect B - the short reverb effect - but then you don‘t use it. 😁 2 You don‘t stop the overdubbing on track 1 and keep recording your preparations. 😂 3 You don‘t provide an explanation for why anyone should limit a take to 1 bar, while others are set to more. 4 Erasing a track can be done by double-tapping the stop button. That‘s a lot better and efficient than pressing the buttons for 2 seconds. 🤓 5 You‘re only recording small instruments. But what if you want to record something like a drumset? There are a lot more points I could comment on, but I‘d rather try to explain why some points are problematic and suggest some solutions. 1 There‘s so much to be said about recording ambience, it would probably be better to dedicate an individual video to it. Only this much: One probably doesn‘t miss the effect in your recordings, because there already is enough room information due to your surroundings and the fact that you‘re not too close to the recording mic. Performing outdoors or in a larger venue this would be a totally different story. 2 No comment. 😄 3 There are several reasons why limiting the length of a track before recording makes sense. One is to prevent you from making the mistake you‘re making in #2. But you would have to set „play“ instead of „overdub“ after recording. That would be a must in any live setting. If you want to record a drumset, congas, steel drums or other instruments like that, a foot pedal would come in handy. And that is when limiting a track actually makes sense. You can get into the groove, start recording wherever you want in the loop - the onset will always be perfect - and the connection between loop end and (re)start will also work - provided you figured out what you need at that point (i.e. crash cymbal). You‘ve only recorded one part of „Don‘t Worry Be Happy“. But there‘s an Intro, Verse, Chorus, Ending structure to the song. If you want to be able to perform that, the way you limited the tracks wouldn‘t be useful. The transitions wouldn‘t work. By limiting the tracks like you did, you actually took away a lot of liveliness and human feeling. For a single performance it would make a lot more sense to do it the other way around and expand the number of measures to get more variety. If you want to concatinate two or more performances, you‘re well advised to be careful with using different bar lengths to not mess up the transitions and to make the song work. 4 ´Nuff said. 😁 5 see #3 There is another good use for track limiting. And that is the „One Shot“. If you want an instrument like a crash cymbal, a vibra slap, or something like that not to come in all the time, but only at certain points, you can program a button to do just that. It would be wonderful, if you‘d give the RC-505 the same dedication you give your instruments - and then start lecturing us about it. Thank you so much. ❤️ and ☮️, Rick.

@@alikikarveliblackarrows because a lot was wrong in connection with the looper. I respect Kolani as a musician a lot, but I think to remember that this wasn‘t the only video where he showed that he really didn‘t know enough about the looper to give lectures about it. Alone the way he deleted the tracks is enough to show anyone familiar with the RC-505 that this is not the way. 😁 I really can‘t remember, as there was a lot going on at the time, but I believe he stopped trying to lecture about the 505 right after this.

@@richardervins well as someone who isn’t that familiar with the pedal and is trying to learn, may I suggested that making the actual corrections would be a lot more helpful than just saying this guy is doing it wrong and not offering the better way to do it . Or at least links to other videos ? Much appreciated.
